Farrier - will he come or not????

I'm now livid at yesterday's weather, as my farrier had texted me last week to suggest Monday, and of course I leapt at it.

But my horse lives out, and there is nowhere sheltered to shoe him, so I was the one who texted to suggest we postpone. We had Imogen passing through, and it would have been terrifying holding/shoeing in that wind and rain, so I had no choice.

When I'll be able to pin him down again, no-one knows! He's excellent at his job, but unless he has his diary at the time (hardly ever), it's nightmarish booking him.

Mine regularly has to come and find me, as I forget he's coming!
He either appears on the back doorstep, or I hear barking and find him playing with the dogs in the school

or riding the pony!

Arrrrrgggghhhh...I've used the same farrier for 15 years...ex-Army...always, always turns up, on time, texts if going to be late...etc, etc... He is having an enforced break from shoeing, so I'm using someone else, who sent his apprentice...and I've just been texted that he's not coming today...! No biggie for us as my 2 are barefoot, but I work f/t in the City & today is my WFH day, & I can't just randomly book a day off in 2 days' time just to fit in with him, so o/h will have to deal...

Can't wait for my other farrier to become available again!

First farrier i had was great at shoeing but booking him again was a nightmare, wouldn't return calls/texts so looked around for another. Phoned a few local farriers, never got through but left a voicemail, never had a phone back till this day. However, current farrier is great, always on time and has a 6 week rota so app are booked in advance. When she threw a shoe, he came up next morning and put it back on for free. His prices have just raised by £20; wouldn't get rid though hearing and knowing what they can be like.
