OK, a little help here please.

My Farrier is on the Board of the Provincial Farrier's Association and is in charge of next year's Convention, he wants to pull in the public.

So he asked me what would interest me at a convention ...

Talks? (About what?)
Displays?
The shoeing competitions?
New products?

So, I am asking you all, if you went to a convention what would hold your interest? He's back here next week and wants ideas ... I'd be grateful for yours. Thankyou :)

Foot anatomy and a hoof dissection!

Agreed. :)

Also unusual/difficult case studies (with photos of progress, x rays and info about how you solve the problem) for example showing ballarina syndrome, persian slippers, keratoma removal, pedal bone rotation etc...

How hooves function, bio mechanics and importance of building and maintaining a strong caudal (back half) of the hoof.

How to recognize a healthy hoof.

How to recognize common hoof problems. Especially thrush! Laminitis.

How to recognize good shoeing.

Ditch shoeing comps. :D

What owners can do to keep hooves healthy, feed etc.

A talk by Dr Robert Bowker. :D

Another vote: Dr Bowker came to a handmade shoes event and then farriers heard Brian Hampsons thoughts this year at their event. It would be great to now get Dr Bowker to the UK again. I had a full day small group session with him in the USA last year and it was so interesting - albeit I struggled to get all of it. Katy Watts (USA) on grass, or someone that's independent and can talk about feeding, hay on ground, how horses digestion works, forage being key impact on sugars and hooves etc.

Always find dissection stuff interesting.

Could people have big lecture and stuff together and then maybe do a couple of workshop sessions and people can choose between.

Cool, Hannah

Just few ideas

Do hoof supplements work (oral ones feeds etc) OR do external applications potions and lotions work?

Any research.

Again educating owners on rest of horse ie too fat/too thin etc etc ..how owners can help their animals feet!

Foot anatomy etc
