I'm moving my horse from Kent to Norfolk in the next couple of weeks and need to find a good farrier and vet. I was thinking of going with Westover vets as I've heard good things about them but am open to suggestions. Also I have no idea about farriers but want someone who knows what they're doing. Any ideas?

Thanks

Depends where you moving to in Norfolk. I have farrier Rob Reeve, hes from Kings Lynn area but does travel a fair distance. He is fab fab fab fab farrier very popular locally. He's on facebook, i dont have his number because he has contact with our YM. You may find him in yellow pages or by googling

Vets i use one just into cambs Isle vets, Ely. I have only had them out for jabs but always very good from other horsey owners. There is another vets near Fakenham, cant think of their nam but i'm told they are good too.

Jonathan Cane (farrier) is good. He's from Hingham but comes to us south of Norwich (and further). Re vets, my friends use either Westover or Chapelfield and I've heard bad and good of each - luck of the draw it seems to me!

Obviously depends whereabouts in Norfolk you are, but I use Uplands Way Vets who are based in Diss and who I think are brilliant. They also have a branch in Attleborough. Farrier wise, our yard has just swapped to Stephen Davies. I haven't had him for my two yet, but other people on the yard who have had their horses done have all thought he has done a really good job

I'm in the centre of Norwich, vets -westover are fantastic!
Farrier - Ian Marjoram is who I'm with, does a good job every time and is great with horses would 100% recommend these - as would most people I know :) hope this helps.

Again depends where in Norfolk you are moving to for vets you cannt get better than Hans, Norfolk Equine Vets, he has everything mobile, from xrays, ECG, scopes etc etc you get a diagnosis on the day very reasonable rates compared to the "big" companies, and referals straight to Rossdales no messing or running up your insurance. He is cheaper than the big vets on normal charges than they are on their freezone day, and his expertise is second to none.

My farrier is Brendon Murray the British Team farrier however he only takes clients on recommondation from an existing client.

Another vote for Jon Cane here - my farrier at home (London) who I trust with my horses' life even complimented Jon's work - he's very good! I also use Knotts Yard - have had Pippa and Marcus and both have been great.

Oo. You're from my neck of the woods then OP. When I was at home I had John Blake as my farrier. He shoes for WHW and Uplands vets I believe. Did a lovely job of my nightmare horse.

I had Chapelfields as my vet. Tbh I prefer my vets here (in Cambridge) but they weren't bad I guess.

Welcome to Norfolk. Have heard good things of John Blake. We use Kevin Green but he is N & W Norfolk. Our Vets are Wensum valley (Fakenham racecourse) so again probably too northerly for you. I also realy rate Hans Delanois (or however it's spelt), he used to work with Wensum before going solo. You will be nice and close to WHW, they have lots of events/club activities in their indoor and outdoor arenas. Also Thetord Forrest is nice for a day out hacking

Welcome to Norfolk! Most in our yard use Jonathan Cane and for vets I would definitely recommend Uplands Way. They are a great equine practice, sensible and reasonably priced, also happy to refer on to Newmarket where appropriate.

Mark Thompson is our yard farrier and John Blake is very good, he came out to help in a couple of remedial cases.
Use Chris Lebrach as our Vet he's at the Chapelfield, Long Stratton branch and top notch. They have an on site surgery so don't have to keep boxing off to Rossdales.

Agree with the John Blake comments, when I worked in that direction at Thetford he done all the horses at my racing yard and he was really good. If a horse lost a shoe he'd be out within a couple of hours. Recommend him also.

Marcus & pippa @ knotts yard in watton are very good, used them for ten years, had various issues with chaplefield vets, also heard good things about westover too, hope you enjoy Norfolk. Jonathan cane v good and Claire Martin good Farrier.

You won't regret moving to Norfolk! The best bit is having Holkham beach to ride on :-). And I'm extra lucky cos I live right next to Peddars Way and Thetford forest.

I use John Blake too and even if he doesn't come out personally he sends his equally competent son (James?). They are not cheap but the best farriers I've ever had. Really good with my nervy youngster.

For vetss I also use Pippa and Marcus at Knott's Yard. Lovely people both of them and very professional.

If you need an horse dentist I can thoroughly recommend Amy Last - she does work for WHW too alongside John Blake and his team. She gets v. booked up though so you have to be organised with her!

The only rubbish bit about living in Norfolk is waiting for them to dual the A11 at Elvedon, grrrrr!

We use Charlie Gregory for our farrier and Anchorage Barn Equine Clinic as our vets. Both based in the North / West Norfolk so I would say to north for you. x
