all my ones are barefoot so we only get out for a trim and check, however noticed the farrier has tons of worn shoes in the back of the van obvs!

so, would it be weird to ask him if we could buy some off him, any one done this? how much would be an ok (read: not taking the pee) price do u think?

I asked my farrier what happens to the old shoes and he said they go for scrap. He then offered me the used ones from my horse and wanted nothing for them.

Seeing as its your farrier, there's certainly no harm in asking!

You mean to nail onto doors or make things out of? Most farriers would happily give you some old shoes. I know my OH would. He'd probably appreciate the offer of some £ but wouldn't take it, and then would appreciate a bottle of something (or a lemon drizzle cake - he'll do anything for one of those ) :D

Ours gives us them - saves him taking them for scrap! My Indian colleagues always want them to take back to India for good luck and OH welds them into fire baskets etc
