hi
I am thinking about moving to Devon and was wondering about the farrier situation. So is it difficult to get one and how much does it cost for a set of shoes?
Thank you!!

I use Martin Buckland who is fabulous. He charges £56 for shoeing with road studs as well.

He is a lovely man, would bend over backwards for his clients, very worldly and knowledgeable and does a good jobthat even my vet has commented on.

So if you move, he might be a good bet

My farrier is Paul Dean - ex Kings Troop and a fantastic farrier, always reliable, answers his phone and calls me back the same day when I text him. Very very good remedial farrier. Always makes his appointments, and is fantastic at explaining to clients why he is shoeing as he is and what he is looking for in the feet. He covers from North Devon - down to Okehampton.

I know there are several around here not taking on any more, though

Not sure if Martin is or not. The other 2 that do my old yard (never did us), aren't taking on more. As you are aware, there aren't enough of them!

There's lots of farriers in South Devon too, its just a matter of picking the good ones ! I currently pay £60 per set.
