Farriers in Kent

Having a little panic, My usually wonderful farrier did not turn up last Wednesday to trim my horse. He is always normally early or on time, and in the almost three years of using him I have had no issues whatsoever.

Now I cannot get hold of him at all. I have been calling and texting with no reply! I know he is around as I drove past himon Friday.

My mare is barefoot but she has various issues with her legs and is on strictly 6 week trims which I am now nearly at 7 so I am starting panic.

What do I do???? I am very sceptical about changing but she needs her feet doing!!
 
This is what I am now worrying about, being this time of year her feet are growing much faster too and really need trimming!

He is normally extremely reliable and great with my horse having had conversations with my vet etc which is the main reason I am uncertain about who else to trust with her.

Thanks for the recommendation, But I dont think he travels as far as us. Does anybnody else have any recommendations?
 
Thanks Montyforever, I have seem him advertised!

I guess because my farrier have been so good for the last few years I feel almost like I am betraying him by getting someone else! :o

I guess when you have used someone for so long, you kind of forget you are paying them for a service!
 
I was quite relieved when you said you've driven passed him since you started trying to get hold of him.....My old farrier didn't turn up for our appointment so I left him a few messages asking where he was and why hadn't he come as booked only to find out he'd been killed the night before. :( Always makes me a bit wary of leaving messages if someone doesn't turn up now.

Well when he didnt turn up I thought he must have a pretty good reason as he is normally so reliable, but the fact I am trying my hardest to get hold of him with no reply whatsoever and then driving past him... I wonder if maybe as he only comes to us for a trim every 6 weeks maybe he is getting better business elsewhere.
That is fine but being that she needs 6 weekly trims to keep her sound (which he knows and has helped me with) I just wish he had of said if that was the case.

I just feel really bad ringing someone else, I dont know why! :confused:
 
I use John southerland, excellent service, totally reliable and always on time . He always helps me out in an emergency and is brilliant with my very differnt equines. His number is 07867807503
 
I use Lewis Sutton but don't think he can take on any more new clients. I have heard nice things about Lewis Knaggs. He is on facebook
 
I am just really confused as to what has happened with mine, would understand if I had only used him once or twice.. But what else can I do?
I can't just wait and see, she needs trimming after all! I will do some ringing around tomorrow, thanks everybody!
 
I use Lewis knaggs. Only had him twice as just moved to the area, but he's done a good job both times on 3 different horses all barefoot. I know Clifford Martin is local, but I've had him do exactly the same as what you describe, maybe that's who you're talking about... If you want to have Clive meers rainger, I'd also be interested in trying him. He might be happier to come out for more - I have 3 to do.
 
Well it seems there are a lot if good farriers around the Kent area!
I will do some ringing around tomorrow whilst hoping mine gets in touch and I won't have to change lol
 
Lewis Knaggs is really good. He was my farriers apprentice and I would happily leave him alone with our horses, as we do with his ex-boss.
 
Matt and jack, could you possibly pm me who it is? If that's the case I may not feel so bad having to find someone else lol
