I am incredibly lucky to have access to one of the most fab farriers in the country, won gold medals in the farrier world cup thingy.
However, he doesn't turn up!!

He came to our yard at 2 to do the yard and he got through all of them apart from mine and one other. He half did a friends mare, put shoes on her front but didn't even trim her back feet.
He left at 3:30, promising to be back at 4:30 to 4:45 as this was his last free slot of the day.....it got to 6:20 and he wasn't here, so i turned the the two horses out and then rang him, and there was no answer so i rang him again about 15 minutes later and still no answer....then he turned his phone off

i tried to ring another farrier and explained what had happened and he was lovely but can't fit me onto his client list

So thats left my horse shoeless again, without a trim and he's overdue now and has left one elderly horse nearly crippled.
A phone call to say he couldn't make it would have been nice, but its not the first time hes let the yard down

OOO i just needed a rant about it, i'm perhaps acting a bit irrationally, but bloody annoying.

So am now looking for a new farrier!!
anyone know of one in Leics? towards Normanton on soar/east leake way?

thank youuuuu
Hannah xx

What an arse.....I wouldnt dream of treating my clients like that. And my farrier always turns up within 5 mins of the time he tells me he is coming!
Afraid I dont know any farriers up north so cant help re finding a new one!

I would not stand for that! My farrier is great and often wins farrier of the year at badminton! he's a great guy and always turns up (just slightly late sometimes!).

If i was you i'd find a new farrier, thats just not on!

I'm reasonably sure that farriers have a duty of care to attend an animal if they have started work on it, or if it becomes lame within a certain time limit of being shod by them. I may have got this wrong. He is not a fab farrier if he brhaves like this and I would be strongly minded to report him to his registrating council.

Personally, I would report him to the farriers registration council. They insist that we as owners make sure that we treat the farriers with respect and have suitable areas to shoe etc etc. and it should work both ways.

I think the attitude of your farrier is totally out of order an would suggest you find yourself another. ( Try the farriers registration web site for a list in your area)

I have a very good chap who can be a bit on the grumpy side but always turns, up, (early on most occasions) and will make a start without me if I'm not there. Find your self a good one and look after him!

dunno, i;m from Loughborough area (admitidly i don't own a horse) but know people who do. can't think of one.

try 118 118 cuz i cant find any by googleing it
