There have been loads of 'rant' posts about farriers on this forum. They either can't be contacted, fail to turn up, rude, belt the horse etc.

I can't praise mine enough! A last minute decision was made for daughter to go to Welsh Masters next Tuesday, the show runs until Sunday. Suddenly realised that the jumping was to be on grass & our lad has no stud holes (coming off an indoor season)

so after a quick panic I text my farrier last night. He contacted me this morning & he's arranging to come & shoe my lad & put in the stud holes this weekend.

I've had my farrier for 8 years & he's never let me down, Paul Armstrong you're a star!

He has worked closely with the vet to get Finns feet sorted. Spent 2 hours on his day off measuring Finn's feet. On Monday spent 2 1/2 hours on Monday with vet looking at X-rays and takiing his shoes off and then putting them back on. A year of treatment and all the other times he has been wonderful. Thank you.

In support of your post.

I have been with my farrier for 14 years - would use not other.

Tim Rooney & Co - you're fab!

I'll add to this one - Dominic Adcock of Fifield.....you are a star!! He has shod my horses for the last 10 years and has seen them through a horrific laminitis attack, artritic fetlocks, spavins, navicular and a torn deep digital flexor tendon and all have come out of the other side 100% better than expected by vets!
He always turns up when arranged, aill always help out a friend, and is just generally a really nice guy!

I'll add to this one - although some ppl have had trouble with him I think my farrier is great, he always comes out within 24hrs for a lost shoe, and has shod every single one of my horses inc one from 5mths old (trim of course!) and done them well

ooh, i'll add to this aswell-

Nick Clarke, from Naburn, York

Always turns up and has done wonders for my horsies feet.

Also,

Ross Mackie (it sounds like that, but i dont know how to spell it!) and Andy, they shoe OH's horse, they're brill too!

My farrier is fab....he has worked wonders on my TB's awful feet, he also catches the horses & puts them back out after so I don't have to take time off work to come down!! Star

Jonathon Cane (Norfolk/Suffolk) is fantastic. I can't praise him enough - his shoeing saved my pony's life 2 years ago and when my big mare was diagnosed with arthritis a year ago, his remedial shoeing has meant I can ride her again when the vet thought she would never be sound enough. He is 100% reliable and the nicest guy you could ever wish to have shoe your horses.

Rob Pritchard, Herefordshire/Shropshire borders. Has transformed Tb's poor feet, turns up on time every time, will come out at short notice for problems, enjoys teaching/explaining what he's doing. All round nice guy!

Alan Coe, Essex, always helps me out, comes out within a day if I lose a shoe and has worked wonders with her terrible feet, they are now wonderful. Crop threw a shoe on Christmas Eve, I boxed her over to his house and he did her in his back garden!!! He's great

Here here for Dominic, such a nice guy and very professional, would totally trust his judgement unlike certain other farriers in the past!

I find if you have a few 'hooks' in them (i.e knowing their mothers/girlfirends ;p) they magically turn out much more reliable. My current one is fab.
