farriers

If you are qualified :) and you are any good :) there is plenty of work in Northern Ireland, despite the economic climate. There is still no requirement to be on the Register here  (although it will come in over the next few years) so there are plenty of poor farriers here, but the horse owning public is becoming wiser to it and looking for a change.

Personally I think there is a need for farriers who can make their own shoes when the need arises rather than just whacking on ready mades regardless. OH would happily give up his forge and retire but I won't let him because there isn't anyone else around here who can shoe properly:D

i am uk and eu qualified and registered , i make shoes on a daily basis and are looking to relocate and slow down , i am more than willing to listen to all options and ideas ,

I think anywhere in the world is a good place to relocate to, if you are a good farrier you should be able to get work anywhere. From experience, Egypt, Southern France and Austria would be goo places to start!!! Good luck:)

There are hardly any qualified farriers in Norway, it is a HUGE problem here. Owners want qualified farriers and are prepared to pay high prices to get one. I often pay over £100 for one set and extra for the Welsh A to have trim. The weather is cold but the work is plentiful and a high standard of living is easily obtainable in this country.

i am qualified in "correct " shoeing , the other word is bull IMO , there are lpenty of good farriers in both uni land and essex who shoe correctly
chris

No, corrective as in for limb deformities, navicular shoes etc.
There are plenty of farriers here that will not come out if the horse needs a egg bar etc. (My horse has a split in his hoof)

i shod in england for 20 years and can honestly say i have never heard of a farrier that is not capable of applying basic shoes correctly whatever they may be (including barshoes of all types ) , it sounds to me as though it is a business matter rather than an ability matter , where are you ? i might be able to point byou in the right direction

Come to Sheffield/North East Derbyshire (edge of the Peak District) you sound like you'd have a full book in about a week here.
