Farringtons Saddles experiences good or bad?

As in the title really - I really need a new saddle for tricky Connie pony - Struggling to justify and afford a lovely AH saddle and wondered about the more reasonably priced Farringtons - which i am led to believe have a similar flat tree..

Any ideas or thoughts?
 
They made Derby House own brand in the past. I've had several and thought they were great value for money. Going back a few years now though.
 
I love mine on Coblet. Bit little for my legs jumping, it's a GP, but fits him well enough. We were having saddle fitting nightmares too due to his shape and came across our one trying ones. Otherwise we'd have to go down the AH made to measure route too.

I'd still love an AH one personally if I had the dollar to have one made, as it would fit me slightly better lol.
 
I have one, a working hunter, lovely saddle that was suitable for all activities and very comfortable. Sadly it is a 17" and therefore too small for me to shorten my stirrups to jump and very much too small for the husband, I would recommend one. Nice looking saddles. It has been used on some really different horses too and fits well.

Lovely saddles, I have a 30 year old GP still going strong and no real wear on it. Just had a WH made for a young horse, we are lucky as our fitter only stocks Farringtons and can get any type made. They may not be a fashionable name but they are super saddles.
 
Great saddles....I had one for my Connie and a Samber Working Hunter which is the same saddle but from Derby House, for my cob.
 
They're nice quality for the money, you're reliant on the ability of the fitter as in most cases, and I have to say hand on heart their range of trees is quite different to that of AH who I fit for, not as flat in general.
 
I have a Farrington WH model. It was originally bought and fitted to my Connie x TB, but when he retired, I was planning to part exchange it and get another saddle fitted to my little coblet. The saddler took one look, thought that it would suit her too, put it on, and lo and behold, it was perfect. Having used it on two horses now, I really rate them.

Errr I definitely would not be using Miles....he has good patter but is terrible at fitting and taking templates, he overflocked my jump saddle over a series of fittings causing the muscle to waste away to expose the ligament below, horse out of action for over 6 months

I can only speak as I find, the horses wearing his saddles are competing, showing and hunting successfully. Two are youngsters who are very ready to comment if they are not comfortable. I hope you were able to sort your problems out with the saddler.
 
I think in all honesty in our area we are over a barrel for reputable fitters

I literally can't think of anybody right now I'd trust

I do love love love Farrington though, the quality of leather and attention to detail such as width of gullets and panels is really second to none
 
I have 2 Farringtons dressage saddles, love them. I search high and low for them as they fit my last horse beautifully. Id definately have one and wanted a M2M but couldnt find a saddler local enough who sold them :(

I had a lovely show saddle by Farringtons, had never heard of them when I first bought it years ago but fitted my mare a treat and was lovely and comfy, was part suede and leather. Excellent quality. Sold it last year as was no longer getting the use and seemed such a waste for such a lovely saddle. Would definitely have one again.
 
flat trees are ok for flat backed horses - just remember though that if you jump the flatter tree may hinder the horses back on landing ... obviously depending on size of saddle etc

Farringtons are nice looking saddles ... as are AH ... id rather save my money ;)

Please can you explain what you mean here? You're saying that a curvier saddle is preferable when landing because the horses back somehow flexes beyond the tolerances of a flatter saddle?

I shouldn't think anyone would attempt to flat treed saddle to a horse with a curvy back, what would the point of that be?
