American apparel 'riding pant'

I spotted some in a shop window yesterday and went to have a look... They're the cheap ones I used to wear as a kid.... You know the nylon ones with the fake cord pattern. Yes, I did actually burst out laughing in the shop!

I think they're fashion wear rather than proper riding clothes.

I remember years ago when trousers with stirrups under the foot and a a panel at the knee were in fashion as 'jodhpurs'.
 
I'm not sure I like the "jodhpur" fashion at the mo. So many girls walking around with nothing more than tights showing every crease of their backsides... Jeezo lass! Cover yourself up!!!! At least put some trousers on over it or something....

Bring back the MC Hammer pants! That was my favourite craze. Hated the tartan pant craze...
 
Yes, of course they are just 'fashion' stuff...i'm just amazed at how much like the old jodhs they are! At twice the price! I had to work very hard not to burst out laughing when i saw a girl wearing cheap 'patent' black long boots, with sewn on gold 'dummy spurs'...on the train in central London. They weren't actual riding gear, just 'fashion' imitation and looked fairly horrendous!
 
Are you required to ride topless in them as the slideshow in the advert seems to suggest. Might make dressage a slightly more interesting spectator sport. :p

I came across that, too. I just sat here a second in silence, and then said, "Well that's different..." All these years of wearing a shirt while riding was a huge fashion mistake, and I didn't even know it! :eek: :rolleyes:
 
One word, WOW.

I hope they do take off in fashion, maybe the skanks in town on a Saturday can stop their lips chapping whilst not loosing the "leave nothing to the imagination" aspect.

Um, have you seen the photos on the rhs, further down the page? :eek: I'm not sure how warm you'd be wearing only a pair of jodhpurs?! :rolleyes: :D
 
Oh dear, they're not far off the skanks.

Must admit, that dress code would make the yard a MUCH more amusing place to be.

I'd finally realise what it's like to be a stallion!

Don't tell the horse communicators that though.
 
Well, if I was lucky enough to be blessed with the time for said toys I wouldn't hesitate!

Although I believe I'd keep it in the personal part of my brain.

Or are we taking about chiffneys here?

If so, that word is also an abbreviation for the dirty minded down my way. (not horsey people obviously)

What a screech! It's certainly put a smile on my face!

:D I was sent a link to an article in the daily mail a week or so ago. A 'celebrity' who was described by the 'journalist' (note inverted commas ;) ) as wearing leggings with 'knee patches' which matched her boots, and 'leather leg warmers.'

She was fairly obviously wearing jodhs, jodh boots and gaiters :rolleyes: and I very much expect she had either just been riding, or was just about to go.. :D :D
 
Oh dear!!! I'll be avoiding town if this is fashion! I do remember having those fake jods with the foot stirrup things when I was younger, I must have been a trend setter!
