So I am using christmas as an excuse to buy some slightly better clothes for the baby horse (supposedly presents for my sister ;) ) and would love some opinions on what would suit him.

Bridle, firstly. Has to be pretty low budget, preferably with a comfort head piece. He has a big banana head, so something that would flatter it would be good. Has to be okay for hunting/dressage/sj/xc, and black, extra large :) At the moment his bridle is made of odds and ends that don't even match in colour! I'm a bling fiend and would layer on the diamonte and patent finish, but sister is quite conservative so I need to bear this in mind.

Also, do you think there are any colours that would suit him? His XC colours are black and red, I think he'd look fab in gold!

Here's the dude:

Gold would be stunning. With beautifully coloured horses I like to go more conservative in colour - don't want to show them up!! So I'd say black/navy/white with gold trim.

For a cheap but nice bridle, try FSS? I got my dressage bridle there, it happens to be patent but you can get lovely non-patent ones too. Something like this? The brass buckles would look smart on him.

When we had a dun their Xc colours were black and gold, so black sleeves and hat silk with gold stars. Looks brilliant on him ( still looks good on current bay as well!)

Bridle wise, look at Evision Equine bridles, great quality for the price and the wider nose and will set your boys head off a treat, they do blingy browbands as well :-)

Premiera I think bridles are amazing! I have a beige gold for my horses I think it would set him right off, or perhaps the sparkly eskadron range or hv polo range

I think he will need an extensive wardrode !
For dressage I think black will be best for tack .
For hanging out and jumping he also will look beauiful in brown.
For cloths and bandages .
Black, bright red , gold , saffron , navy blue emerald green the possibilitys are endless.
Great fun.

He is such a lovely horse.

I think the key to his bridle will be the right noseband - he needs a very wide slightly raised/padded noseband - a minimum of 1.5" although in reality could probably go wider. A scoop to the browband should also help.

My horse has a pretty big head in relation to her body, although with her she has her own built in bling (!) so it's slightly different. But to give you an idea, this is a rolled double from Wolds Exclusive Bling, and is the widest noseband they do (1.5"). For her snaffle bridle, I actually had her noseband made for me at 1.75".
