Sorry, one last thread! I actually meant to start this one yesterday when I read in horse&rider that "Hi-viz isn't glamorous".

Would you buy more hi-viz if it was more fashionable? Perhaps a nicer, more feminine cut?
Maybe a in the style of a show jacket?

I do wear hi viz anyway but it would be nice to have a more fitted jacket. I really struggled to find one that didn't make me look about 30 stone. Being quite small I ended up buying a teens one but even that is very boxy and unflattering. While I know hi-viz is obviously for safety I would do without looking like a weeble if possible :)

Probably. I personally like the polite jackets, i find them to look a flattering fit. But you can make anything into a fashion if it gets enough attention.
For example:
Barefoot diet
Micronised linseed
Ect

I'm not saying these things aren't good or useful but it just shows with enough recommendation and good stories that things can take off (:

Well as I generally tend to ride in dirty slob clothes... I couldnt care less what a hi-vis jacket looks like!

Frankly the quality and cut of most of it is naff .
I wish musto and the like would make their best riding coats and and waterproof chaps in a hi viz fabric.

I don't think any amount of recommendation from anyone will make my being drowned in day glo pink fashionable :D

The runners and cyclists have great hi viz, but equestrian manufacturers seem to think riders who hack don't care about fashion.
I think its a major problem for persuading some riders to wear hi viz. Why are winter jackets designed for riding in, mostly made in dark colours ?

Orange with navy trim designs would be nice. Yellow attracts midges and clashes with rape fields. Pink is fine for young girls but wearing neon pink wouldn't be my best look.

Good thread! I would love a nice, fitted, flattering hi-viz jacket! Mine isn't too bad...it has black bits on the sides so more flattering than some, but still horrendous in my opinion!
Call me vein, but nothing wrong with wanting to not look like you've just stepped off a building site!

I have one of these:

Came from a cycling website but that doesn't make it illegal to wear it on a horse, its a lot nicer than OH's work hi viz!

I also have a pair of orange hi viz overalls which I exercise in during the winter time, I also wear my skii salopettes which are bright turquoise - not hi viz but very bright.

Agree there is loads of cycling stuff and running stuff that is good as it often comes in more technical fabrics like those suitable for getting sweaty in!

I'm not gonna lie, big jackets and flappy tabards are a good excuse for looking fat and blaming your outfit ;-)

I wear hi viz to keep me safe...don't really care what it looks like.

I have a few fluorescent pink technical t shirts I bought for running that also come in use for riding (if it's warm), and one running hi viz gillet, but neither have that many reflective bits on them, other than that I am happy to wear builder-esque hi viz. The only problem is that being short, I sometimes end up sitting on the end of them.

Personally I don't care....I'm covered in hair, wearing old manky clothes etc when I ride anyway. I care about not getting hit by a car.....not looking fashionable lol.

I have a great Endura cycling waterproof that I nicked from my dad, cycling gear is far more flattering and perfect for hacking in.
