being a bit happier than early id thought id ask this to get it of my mind
ebs has
1 scoop alfa a oils
1 scoop mix
and 3/4 to 1 scoop fast fiber
cod liver oil and cortaflex [in dinner] and garlic in both but when i come in the morning shes eaten everything and left at the bottem is about half of teh fast fiber.
i had recently changed to fast fiber after her starting to not eat speedy beet [old owner did say she starts go to off it after a while] but this is keeping her weight on really well now shes stop eating half of it  is there anything i can add to make it tastey? that WONT make her engry iv tried soaking mint treats with it but still leaving half of it
i really dont want to change again as this seems to be working so well
any ideas? thanks

ps. any other supplements for her joints as its now colder? [cheap ones :o]

tricky, our fussy ones absolutly love fast fibre! One of them does turn her nose up at it if it is too wet (she is the same with speedibeet). If it is left in the bottom of the feed bucket does it have 'gravy' too? The wet might put her off a little.
Does your bucket have steep sides? Ours struggle to get the last bits from the bottom corners of the bucket if the sides are too steep - they have those recyled tyre black feed skips now and all is well.
My girl will eat hay over her tea, so to make sure she eats her tea (so she gets her supps) I give it to her first, then feed hay when she has eaten her tea.
For joints (and just generally fab stuff!) then I would add microionized linseed. Not expensive, no prep and has omega 3 & 6 in which is fab for joints. Not heating either. but is quite high in cals (because of the high oil content) so if you are feeding a good doer then I wouldn't go mad on the amounts. You can get small amounts from here http://www.naturalhorsesupplies.co.uk/p/product/0807109621-Micronized+Linseed+900g++%A3249/ or large sacks from charnwood http://www.charnwood-milling.co.uk/horse_specs/micronized whole linseed.htm

If its just the morning could it be that shes excited to be going out or something along those lines?
Also, seems silly, but are you mixing it well? If its just fast fibre at the bottom it suggests shes either cleverly sifting through it or its not mixed up and she gets bored of it on its own?

I’ve had similar issues with plain speedibeet so he now gets a little graze-on and some pony nuts with the speedibeet, licks the bowl clean!

My lad wouldn't eat it so I started adding a bit of garlic and he has no problem with it now. I do have it mixed with chaff, apples and carrots too.

iv tried it warm she eats her hayledge til its cooled down so thats pointless
yes i mix it with my hands... so it should be mixed it probally!
and i know if i had carrots she probally sieve though it and get them out
so is it worth still feeding it her? x

Have you tried her on Calm & Condition? My cob doesn't need weight on but it maintains his weight over the winter. He has 1kg of Fast Fibre and 1kg Calm & Condition split between 2 meals a day.

Is that per feed and twice a day?

Firstly it seems a big old bucket of feed twice a day and with having it in the evening she will have all night to eat it, whereas in the morning she has probably got bored and is ready to go out. I would either try and feed her ideally 3 times a day, if this is not possible then I would consider perhaps increasing the fast fibre in the evening and dropping it in the morning so she is still getting the quantity but has more time to eat and digest in the evening.

Alternatively as cobgirlie mentions - calm and condition by Allen and Page is a fabulous feed, as is their weight gain. Just be careful that she stays a good weight - lighter is better for her with her arthritis.

I would suggest reducing the fast fibre by the amount she is leaving behind and increasing the AlfaA oil. Very unlikely to be the FF that is putting weight on her as it has a very low calorific value. AlfaA oil however is fab for putting weight on them.

for weight gain FF is not much use - its more of a bulker - so i'd just reduce it :)

ETA_ funnily enough my mare did the same with FF a few years back - but nowdays loves it (after she stopped wating just chaff with supps in it and started to nick field mates FF!!)

I must admit I have found it excellent for weight gain and keeping the weight on. I have always struggled and have to have low sugar/starch diets but this has been excellent, possibly because he can have a good bowl full of it and as yet he doesn't have any other feed or vits/mins added to it.

in terms of mj/kg its one of the lowest at 8Mj/kg and recommended for good do'ers - tbh if i wanted to add weight i'd be looking for a feed that is more like 12Mj/Kg...

but then again horses never follow the rules lol! so if it works for yours then great :)
