Fast Fibre Allen & Page

I use it and think its great because all my supplements soak in nice and my mare loves it. You will find alot of barefooters use it because its low in starch/sugar and high in fibre and you only need to soak it for 30-60 secs wish is fab.

I recommend it :D
 
I've used it. It wasn't enough for my TB, he lost weight and muscle on it and started looking poor.

However he did love it! He loved his bucket of slop lol.

Its only 7% protein, not enough for a working TB and 5% starch and 8% energy or something like that. It's better for fatties and good doers I think :).
 
I'm using it for my new mare (Welsh x) who was a tad on the poor side for going into winter and it's filling her out a treat together with grass. My Shetty is having it as well but it's keeping him at a constant weight. Neither of them are on the recommended quantity though.
 
We got a bit fed up of the sloppy mess of it, and its not cheap for what it is imho. We moved onto TopSpec FibrePlus, which is about £2 cheaper a bag, and can be fed unsoaked :)
 
Yes, I use it for my Arab x who is a very good doer, she lives on fresh air and only has 1/2 a mug soaked a day, and looks a nice healthy weight!
 
I think the A&P was about £11-12 a bag, and the Topspec is £8.95 I think? Not much, but we go through a bag a week, and every little helps! :)

I *think* they are fairly similat nutrition wise, I did look at the bags....
 
My horse loves it, and when he was on bute he just ate it really easily in the fast fibre. I dont think it is expensive, costs 8.40 a bag that lasts at least 3 weeks for my cob. I like it as I have little storage and dont need to find room for a chaff or any other feed.
 
I buy my Fast Fibre for under £8 a bag. She gets a big tub of Fast Fibre for breakfast that is soaked overnight. One round scoop of FF and about 3 inches of water. Loves it. Her evening meal is a balancer and graze on.

just been in same dilema with one of our TB's on calm and condition
you may of already emailed them but i emailed them for advice to switch to fast fibre got a very helpful reply and a money off voucher in the post from them
just let them know all you feed inc.. supplements for her and they will get back to you very quickly
 
I have just gone on it as my mare had colic op and was told by vets to put her on high fibre foods.. She also on antibotics and she soon got it down her. She is a good doer arabx. she loves it. I also put a handfull of Dengie Hi-Fi Original with Apple and scoop of Allen & Page Fast Fibre. Not sure if i need the hi-fi but i did not feel it ok to feed the fast fibre on its own. I will wait and see it she holds her weight on it as she has lost abit since op. I only payed about 8.40 for mine .

Have had mixed reactions - depending on the type of horse I have fed it to. Poor TB don't seem to thrive on it but the more native and good doer warmbloods seem to level out on it and seems to work. I have found that the Calm and Condition better value for terms of effectiveness and monetary terms for poor doers. On the whole really like A&P feeds and their ideals on feeding and enviromental ideals. Good sensible feed line advice.
 
Think it's brilliant, our shire x has it and seems to enjoy it. He's prone to be a fatty and looks very well on this and dengie hifi mollasses free xx
 
I love the idea of Fast Fibre - nutritionally very good - however my horses won't eat it. My mare ate it great for about a week and now won't touch it - I managed to sell one bag, but still have over half a bag festering in a feed bin.
My youngster also won't touch the stuff. My barefoot trimmer described it as similar to us being fed salad all the time!

I use Allen and page L mix for my bare foot good doers with speedibeet to mix their supplements in. It's totally cereal free, molasses free and lower sugar and starch than fast fibre
 
I think it's fabulous stuff. Good doer cob gets his 'nutrition' from his balancer, so, I can use the FF for belly filling, heating, mixing whatever. It can be used as a hay replacer, so good quality forage. What I'm trying to say is, I use fast fibre instead of sugar beet!
My friend's WBxTB is very feed sensitive, but FF on it's own didn't give her enough energy for competing. She has EPSM (prone to tying up) so have to be very careful. Calm and condition sent her doolally but A&P's Power and Performance suits her down to the ground.
 
OP: what are you looking for from this feed??

i use it with great results for my 40 year old pony. she is very dentally challenged now, and so cannot breakup and utilise grass or hay anymore. she was looking a bit underweight i the summer, and so put her onto a mix of fast fibre, and another of allen and page's veteran mashes.

it has worked wonders for tego- but that is because i am using it as a grass/hay replacer. i wouldnt use if for any other reason tbh. ;)
