Fast Fibre....How much?

Bit of back ground, I have just moved my boy (15.3 id x tb) and after living out for the last year he is now coming in at night and enjoying being ALOT more pampered. I had bought him baileys cheap horse and pony mix so I could feed his supplements (Magnesium Oxide & Micronised Linseed) He doesnt need much of a feed as he seems to carry his weight well. Anyway the mix doesnt seem to be holding the supplements well and I seem to be coming down in the monings to supplement at the bottom of the bucket and all the tasty mix has disappeared. Ive tried adding a little oil but that seems to stick the suplements to the bucket even more. So I have just ordered a bag of fast fibre and was wondering how much you should feed? I make tend to make his feeds up in the morning as someone brings him in at night for me, will it last this long? Can I make up a batch to use over a couple of days or is it best to make as you go?

as its cooler now,i make up enough for 2-3 days (4-6 feeds)
i feed to my idxcob 1/4-1/2 scoop in each feed(soaked) with hifi origional and pony nuts.
 
Mine loves her Fast Fibre. I feed micronised linseed in it too which mixes very well and she doesn't leave any.

It soaks very quick so I tend to make it as I go, I use 3 1/4 a scoop, split in to 2 feeds. It has lasted me about 4 weeks so far :D It only take around 50 seconds to soak too so very easy.
 
U can make it how you want to. I use a topspec measure cup full with 1 1/2 measure cups of water. My lad likes it that way and with his equimins and linseed that's all he gets. He's a 16.2 tb as well so being cheap to feed
 
i put about 1/4 scoop in feed bucket first, then shake it level, then the rest of the feed on top. when i add water later (at least a big round scoopful per feed, i feed very sloppy feeds) it's always enough for it to soak in. I find this easier and more convenient than having a separate bucket to soak it (like sugar beet). so my lot get about 1/4 scoop each per feed, maybe as much as 1/2, depending.

ah this is what i do kerilli thought i'd missed out on something then - i dont' use separate bucket i put it in and mix with the rest of the feed and scoop of water/ phew thought i was doing something crazy weird then lol
 
As iv got 6 horses I soak the fast fibre fresh everyday and by the time iv added their supplements it's soaked. It really is quick and no trouble

i just put a couple of scoops of ff in a dengie bucket,then cover it plus another 2 inches above.i have to make it to last a couple days at a time as i have t/o or b/i depending on work.
 
1/2 a scoop, cover with water (about 2 scoops) so it's the consistency of sloppy porridge after 1 minute, add 1 scoof of dry chaff and any supplements. Mix.:)
 
I tend to make it fresh every feed because my fussy girl will only eat it fresh! The little monkey. Also I find it gets a bit yucky in the summer heat if I make it in advance.

It's great stuff and when it gets really cold my girl likes it warm like porridge.

You can feed lots of it because it's a hay replacer and it's low in calories unless you add linseed. Last winter I left a massive bucket in the stable which my girl picked at through the night aft she ha had her tea. She'd happily tuck not her hay then every now and again come over and take a mouthful from the bucket. I guess If you had a greedy horse you clay be couldn't do that.

I have just received my bag, only ordered yesterday lunch time and was not at all expensive, not sure if I am allowed to say where I got it from....?

Will give it a try tonight and see what happens!!

Mine love it....great for supplements cos it all mixes in. My arab licks his licks, its the only feed he cleans his bucket out. I do him a full scoop twice a day with two scoops of water so its like a thick bran mash. He's prone to ulcers so i like him to have a full tummy :)
