There is a thread in another hunting forum. www.huntersforlife.forumwise.com about fasting dogs once a week. Does anyone do this? It may be best if you read the other thread to see what i mean!

My grandad used to do this with his working dogs. They had the same day each week with not being fed. Not sure what the point of it was, but the dogs didn't seem any worse for it!

Couldn't read the other post but do occasionally fast my dog when we are going out for the day somewhere as it encourgaes him to come back as he is not of a breed that recalls particularly well.

yes my friend does this to an extent...the dogs get Omega tasty every day in their bowl, but occasionally, they will have a hide chew and a jumbone, and that's it.....instead of, not on top of their daily meal. they are not workers, just pets. her eldest dog was put down last Oct, at 19yrs old, never did her any harm.
