fat cob - im prepared to be slated - just need advice

If you want to cut down on the hay but want to keep him munching all night you could try double netting - ie one haynet inside another.
He only gets on hay nets worth of hay but it takes him longer to eat it so keeps him going all night.

he does have a grazing muzzle but he hates it - i cannot wait till he is out mainly so i can bring him throught the day

Strip grazing is not an option on my diy yard, its in or a grazing muzzle which really does upset him - and i i said previously, ive now read if a horse is muzzled he will gorge ie make up for it afterwards - im just so confused!

I would recommend continuing with the muzzle, mine has it on for 8 hours a day out in field, he hated it to start with but he had to accept it..i would rather see him out and walking around than cooped up in a stable, if he is obese now you are running the risk of Laminitis.. put a halt to it now before its too late.

thank you so so much everyone for your excellent replies and advice - all great tips!
I will buy a measure tape and begin to weigh and soak his hay, use muzzle etc. Vet is booked for 7th april anyway for his teeth and vaccs so i will chat to him. Ty everyone xxx
