I cant believe its been 1 year since we got Almera. The vet was shocked at how obese she was so she has been flab fighting all year.

So here she is one year on - what do you think? For those who havent seen her before she is a smidge under 15.2, about 6 years old and was imported from Poland ans a 4/5 year old. We think she is a Perecheron cross. She has been an absolute star in the year we have had her, she has done two stonking hunter trials recently. The last one she had a technical elimination due to her naughty mum missing a fence! Still needs a lot of work with balance in canter - but she is shaping up to be the best RC horse ever - and she likes cuddles.

My goodness, she looks enormously better! Well done you, must have involved alot of hard work and some tough love to get her looking so well!

I wish you could have just seen my eyes pop out of my head when I opened the 3rd photo!
Incredible difference, you have done such an amazing job! Well done :)

Fantastic job!

Tell me how did you do it? I'm at my wits end with my two fatties who refuse to shift that last bit of weight!

Well she is actualy a very very forward going cob so that makes excercise easy, and of course as the weight dropped she found working so much easier. She has been doing lots and lots of long walk and trot hacks, especialy since we moved and lost our sand school. Just recently we have upped the fast work as we have stubblefields aplenty.

The hard winter has helped as has moving to a property with 2 1/2 acres of brambles, docks & nettles! Half has been reseeded and out of bounds so they have all had very slim pickings suplemented by soaked hay. We aslo have two native companions who are at the correct weight for the first time ever. The problem we have now is introducing them onto the new reseeded pasture, it is so lush and green. Methinks 10 mins at a time.

Ahhh that's the same problem as me then. Our livery yard's grass is too good, but I can't move away as it's the only yard I can get to via public transport!

I'll maybe try and up the amount of hacking we do.

Cheers, and well done once again!
