Hey guys,

I've bought my mare last September.
I've realized today that she might be pregnant as her belly just iui sent getting smaller.
I've been rationing her feed for the last few months now and she's working a good bit. Certainly enough to lose the few pounds that shes carrying but she's not losing the pudding.
I've attached a photo and would love your opinion as I have until next week for a vet to come out.

No pics showing. If stuck see my post in tack room about posting pics.

Has she been wormed? How old is she? Did she run with a stallion/have access to one?

Yes she has been worked. Shes just turned 8.
I bought her of a dealer and contacted him. He guarantees me that there was no access to a stallion but doesnt know if she run with one at her previous owner. He's gonna check it for me tomorrow. I'll check out your post. Yes I've tried... they're not uploading.

Love her colour! Nice shiny coat too.

Have you weigh taped her? It is a useful tool when getting them to lose weight. My mare is due to foal next week.

Has she ever come into season with you? When standing still does her belly look even both sides or does one side stick out further?

A vet should be able to feel foal via internal examination.

Thank you :)
I haven't weight taped her yet. Will do that today.
It's hard to tell. Sometimes it seems like she is in season but she's in general quite a mareish mare anyway. Gonna check the belly today and get back asap. Cant wait to find out now!

I'm another "no" vote, although if she was a maiden mare in full work at the time of insemination, then it can be very hard to tell. I had one that didn't show at all until the last minute. We had her rescanned twice as we thought she'd lost the foal. Equally, I know of more than one owner of a new "definitely not pregnant mare" who has been surprised by an unexpected foal standing next to the dam in the field one morning, no idea one was coming ...
But usually, they do show.
Even if you're restricting feed, the grass in your pictures is enough to make a belly on some horses!

She doesn’t look typically pregnant no. It could be as said she’s not using her stomach muscles as well as she could, her topline isn’t very established so it could be something to work on after the vet has ruled out pregnancy.

Another no from me. Her udder looks as though she may have had a foal in the past so possibly just lost her figure a bit or may be a big rib cage. One of mine always looked pregnant when she wasn't and that was down to a big rib cage.

I'd be in the no camp. She does have more of an udder than my maiden mares as EP says, possibly had a foal in the past.

Once vet had seen her you can perhaps increase your intensity of work.

Vet is coming out either tomorrow or Wednesday. Will be the longest 48 hrs for me. I really dont want her to have a foal. I dont need a 2nd horse and I had made so much progress with her. It will be all for nothing if she is as she will be out of work until the foal is weaned off. That will be until next Spring. I can start from scratch then again and will also have nothing to ride for the entire summer, autumn and winter. Everyone else is so excited for me and Hope's she will have one. Is it bad that I'm not happy about it? Dont get me wrong. I love foals. They're adorable and I bet hers would be too cute. But like I said... it would only be a huge inconvenience for me as mean as that sounds.

fingers crossed for no foal (are we allowed to bet? Cause I really doubt there is one there lol)

I finally found out that she was possibly covered in August or July. So if we do the maths and I know I've no experience with mares or foals but she should be much bigger then in my opinion.

So sorry for the late update. Work has taken over my life. The vet was there yesterday morning and did an internal examination and scan. No foal just a grass baby. I guess I can send that bill to my friend now who guaranteed me that my mare is in foal and even thought she knew that she was going to have it in approximately 6 to 7 weeks?!?

Ah well, better to know for your peace of mind. Glad you get to just get on and enjoy her now though
