I love these types of transformation threads so I started my own. . my horse has lost a lot of weight but she still has another 10 kg to lose but she started with being 50kg overweight according to the weight tape. She looks amazing but I will wait until she meets her goal before sharing the pictures. She has lost 40 kg so far . So what you’re fat to fit transformation.

Mare had laminitis a year last May. She made a full recovery and has lost 100kg in the process. Complete change of management. She is now on restricted grazing and in at night on weighed haynets.

Great job! Bet she feels 100 times better. As the owner of a small greedy native pony I know how much hard work goes into getting them to a reasonable weight and keeping them there!

I started Fatty on an epic diet in January despite being on restricted forage all winter he weighted in at 830 kilos on the first of July he was 658 .

Mine went the other way ?? I can't remember how much he weighed in racing, around the 510-515kg mark I think (although 17hh he is lightly built)

To fatty who probably weighs nearer 600kg now.

Fat little pony last summer came in at 360 kilos on weighbridge. I think hopefully he's now down to about 345- will be confirmed when weighbridge lady returns next month. I weighed every bloody haynet over autumn and winter and soaked his night net. He worked every day unless it was hissing down and wore minimum weight rugs possible. It's very nice to have people commenting on how well he looks.

Fat cob was too big for the weight tape when we got him.

The vet had a bigger one that estimated him around 1000kg!!! He's barely 14.3hh.

He has lost approximately 350-400kg so far. Hes (very) approximately 610kg when joining two weight tapes together.

He had his day 1 photograph taken yesterday so hopefully a bigger difference in 6-12wks.

Fat cob is supposed to be a companion horse, lives on a dirt lot with soaked hay and goes out hand walking. There are "behavioural" issues as to why hes not ridden but mum isnt able to up his work from the ground so he is being restarted (screwed up by a "professional")

So hopefully can join this thread in a few months.

I can't even begin to explain how ashamed I am of the first picture I still can't believe I didn't see how bad it was at the time! Putting it right been a very big learning curve for me as a first time owner but thankfully he is now far fitter and much happier and I know a little bit more than i did...

He still does need a bit more muscle but at least he is no longer obese.

The top photo is my mare early 2018 and the bottom photo is her last Saturday 2020. It’s been a long process and 3 laminitis episodes but it’s been the kindest thing for my mare. Too many horses are fat and it’s my biggest regret with Tag, watching her in pain. Not the best photo of her but she’s gone from over 600kg possibly 700kg to 500kg now.

Wow some of these look like different horses! Well done. Mine needs to lose about 15kgs which I’m hoping to achieve through upping the work, muzzle alternate days and a slight reduction in his soaked hay. Had the nutritionist out to assess And weigh him. Not too bad but could do with being a bit trimmer.

One of mine was a super fit hunting cob at 14.2hh and 450kg ... Then he had a serious injury resulting in two years off work completely. He was on a small perimeter track as his only permitted movement for a long time ... then walking rehab. At his final scan after two years, he stepped on the vet scales and was 560kg! One year later, he's now back down to 480kg and looking well, just not as lean as when he was hunting weekly.

I'm going to do my own transformation thread on my own weight loss journey in the New Year, if I've not put it all back on scoffing food at work due to boredom.

This is my old boy Izzy. First one is when he was at the rescue before I brought him home. He was 11. Then doing adult gymkhana a few years later. He went on to become a fab endurance horse and hunter. He is 24 now and just hacks with a few hunt rides and fun rides.

Second is at one of the Windsor Castle endurance rides when he was in his prime.

Not sure how much weight he lost but the saddler said he was too fat for a saddle when I first got him so we did a lot of long reining!

Still muzzled, still soaking hay ... it's a daily weight work out for me just moving the wet nets!

Ideally I'd like more photos from other angles, but if thats a recent photo I'd say not tooooo bad - but I'm guessing he's an easy keeper and the grass is already growing. I'd definitely be counting his calories !

(does he always stand leant over his toes / elephant on a drum?)

Thank you for feed back and no, it was a funny angle the only recent ish one I have got. I ideally need to get some of him stood up square. He is a good doer ish loves his food too. When I have a decent photo I’ll show you. Thank you he is looking smart after his clip!
