Fatality at Belton

Such sad news, only met him at Weston the other week, he was so polite and friendly.
My thoughts go out to family and friends.
RIP Ian.

He was always laughing and always had time to say hello, was speaking to him at Kelsall at the weekend.
A true professional and a credit to the sport.

I'm gutted and barely knew him. I have no idea or comprehension of how his friends and family can be feeling and my sympathies are with them.

poor friends and family and also poor fence judges having to deal with it

Huge condolonces to all his friends & family. I was so shocked when I found out and didn't even know him (although knew of him).

A terrible tragedy and waste - R.I.P.

I am shocked and has bought a tear to my eye, Ian has taught me and several other friends of mine on several occassions when I was at boarding school for he is good friends with one of the staff members at my old school.

RIP Ian. Thoughts are with you, your family and your friends

Our entire yard is in a state of shock and disbelief. He was absolutely one of the nicest men I've ever known. He's been teaching at our yard for years and has touched goodness knows how many lives. I can't believe such a huge character is no longer with us - can feel myself getting upset even typing this. Can't quite believe that I'll never again hear his cheery insults delivered in his own inimitable style

I just came home from work and my mum told me about this

Such a shock and it sends shivers over my spine, he was an incredible man and it is such a shame he had to end his life this way! My thoughts are with the Family, Friends and everybody else involved! RIP Ian xx

I am gutted, Ian taught me for three seasons and i was about to start my youngster XC with him this season. This fatality is way to close to home, i am turning my back on eventing. My deepest condolences to his family and friends, he was a lovely man and i cant believe he has gone. Start the party Ian, i'll see you in the next life X

i still cant believe this however many times i read this post or someone tells me it just doesnt sink in.
i can not believe i am never going to see him again, he could always brighten anyones day and make you laugh. RIP Ian, i will miss you x
