I have been asked to help out with the young girls horse who is a 5 year old TB mare and approx. 15+hh, she has the sweetest nature I have ever seen in a horse of her breed and age which is the reason I would love to help her out as I feel so sorry for such a sweet horse, I have only seen this horse when she competes at my place of work and I (along with everyone else) have noticed that she is quite under- weight and seems very lethargic when being ridden for a horse who was supposedly a 'failed racehourse'. from the little information I have on her I know she used to have ulsers and she's been given a supplement for them, I was wondering if anyone could advise me in the best bulk feed with energy I could give her just to give her more energy and fill her out a lot more?

I've put my TB on Spillers Response Slow Release Energy Cubes. He is having 3.5kg per day which is 2 full stubbs scoops and several handfuls in his play ball and i'm really impressed with them! They are high in oil and contain soya and rice bran but low in starch so they are good for excitable horses or those prone to ulcers or metabolic conditions.
I mix them with a scoop of Alfa A oil (he gets a scoop of the cubes plus scoop of the alfa twice a day).
He was looking fairly poor but he has been on these two weeks now and is starting to pick up plus he has a lot more energy but the good kind where he is forwards but not silly.
They are easy to feed as fully supplemented and I don't need to feed anything else. They are putting weight on my boy slowly and carefully. IMO they work really well :).

Oh really? Thank you so much I'll put the idea across to the owner, she has so much potential but she just needs to condition up! Thank you very much!
