I have amused (and angered!!) a few people on here with vids of my big grey girl affectionately known as Fatty... we have had problems jumping, problems on the flat, problems hunting, you name it we have had problems! But I love her to pieces and at least she provides people with amusement and encouragement!?

2 weeks ago she came up in hives, they put it down to allergic reaction, treated with cortisone, the following day she was decidedly 'off', vet treated as colic but took bloods. Came up as liver enzymes raised so treated with antibiotics, week later still very flat so referred for biopsy this tuesday, told i would receive the results in a week, got a bit of a shock when horse-pital phoned yesterday ... she has advanced hepatitis, next 10 days or so are critical, more antibiotics and monitor if she gets better/ or worse... have been told to 'prepare myself'.

She is only 8, and being quite open but quite tragic she is my absolute world, I think she is a boyfriend/husband/child substitute all rolled into one. I have had her since she was three and we have been through so much together (mostly at my injury/embarrassment!) and its tragic a 35 year old woman weeping and wailing but I am absolutely in bits.

I know there have been some great posts on here in years gone by about hepatitis and they have been hugely helpful. I guess this is a bit of a pointless 'poor me' post really but if any of you believe in long distance vibes then please send them our way if you have any spare ones!!

I remember your girl - I enjoyed your jumping videos hugely and think she is really lovely. You obviously have a brilliant bond with her and she certainly is a horse and a half!

A word of encouragement re the hepatitis - a friend's pony came down with it about 8 years ago. Again, she had collicky/off symptoms and we were all appalled when it turned out to be hepatitis. She was treated at home (DIY livery yard) and she pulled through fine.

Keeping everything crossed for your girl. She is not the sort to give in!

dont feel bad, my lad has been my motivation through a horrible marriage and split, and kept me going, the horse of a life time, he isnt broken yet, but last week vet told me my horse may have KS.. gutted doesnt cover it. ok so he is fixable so a bit different.

said horse splattered me yesterday then had a full on rearing tantrum when asked to stand still. I didnt feel so much love then i have to confess. :D

much love and hugs to you. and fingers crossed that all goes well. xx

Sending you huge hugs and vibes. We know what you have been through and how much she means to you hope all turns out well.

As you know we have another fat girl who is doing not a great deal if you feel like a ride in the park one day.

O golly, I absolutely love your girl. Sending huge (((vibes))) from me and mine. She looks like the *ahem* strong type so I'm sure she has a good chance.

Huge vibes to you and Fatty, and don't you dare feel in any way silly for being frantic and/or devastated. I have everything crossed she pulls through just fine.

Please feel free to howl the place down.

I am (just!!!!) 45 and last night broke down sobbing my heart out (proper howls) over my much loved 2 boys that I lost very closely together - cats - but good god, the hole is huge.

12 months ago I lost my 2 beloved retired horses.

What you are feeling tells us all you're human, and need our support to help you through this very frightening 10 days.

we're here, tissues at the ready, as the fear of not knowing if you're going to lose a love is awful.

Vibes and hugs to you both

GI x

Loads of hugs, vibes and whatever kind of voodoo magic I can muster to make you're girl get better.

I am ashamed to admit I cried more over my horse damaging his tendon than I did when my Grandad and Auntie died of cancer. Horse's become a part of us unlike anything else.
