Anyone in this area know what the travel conditions/snow situation is like at the moment?

I am meant to be going to near faversham tomorrow afternoon staying overnight and then coming back sunday lunch time. I cannot risk getting stuck there as due to having heavy snow in Bucks I need to be back at a reasonable time to check on my living out pony and feed him some extra food and I am going to Olympia on Monday and don't want to miss out.

I will get the train down there from Kings cross but if it is going to be difficult traveling in the area I don't want to be stuck on train or cold platform for ages.

Kent police on its website are advising people not to travel unless necessary but the forecasts have not said there has been much snow if any.
 
There hasn't been much snow yet, we had some earlier in the day and it was heavy enough to start settling. I think you need to check in tomorrow am and see if it's snowed overnight. The weather forecast is no help at all. If in doubt, I wouldn't come to be honest. Not if they are expecting it to be as bad as last time.
 
At the moment we just have a very light dusting but I think it is surpose to change I'm I'n Sittingbourne area
 
My main worry is that if it snows a lot during Saturday day it is going to be difficult to get back on the Sunday.

I am visiting friends we are meant to be have a uni reunion staying near faversham in a very country area and going into canterbury for the evening. It is a bit different for everyone else as not having horses it does not matter if it takes 10 hours to get back home or if they get snowed in.
 
I think you're right to be worried. Last time the snow just dumped down and within a couple of hours roads were snarled up and train services started to suffer. I was up closer to Maidstone and ended up staying where I work for two nights as the roads were so bad. Guests staying with us (it's a B+B) were stranded by lack of taxis, suspended train services etc. We couldn't take them anywhere as we couldn't get our cars off the drive! I've talking about somewhere just off a major road, not stuck out in the country. I'm dreading waking up tomorrow and looking out of the window, don't know about anyone else.
 
I am probably a little too far north west for you - but it is bl**dy freezing here at the moment -9 on the weather station thing. The forecast is for a lot of snow tomorrow and even more on Sunday. I would say it's very dodgy! Round here the real trouble is the hills and the fact that they don't seem to be gritting this year, so you just slide down! I am supposed to go and see my poor Hugo for the first time since he arrived last Sunday - but I don't think I'll be able to get up the hill in the morning - there is about an inch of snow on the ground at the moment and if it freezes (it is -9!), it will be like an ice rink!
 
I am maybe a little far to the west for you. Here the rural roads are passable with care and the main roads are ok. About an inch of snow, but very cold and freezing up since late afternoon, more snow is expected overnight I believe. OH told me that trains are now going to emergency service from tomorrow though when he got back from London this evening.
 
I have wimped out - we now have heavy snow forecast in bucks and it is also forecast in canterbury.

I could make a big effort and get the train down and it would probably be ok - but I think my living out pony would appreciate coming in for a big chunk of today and tomorrow for a break from the snow and some nice hay to eat. (Yes I am soft!).
