What is your favourite brand of second hand trailer? I cannot afford a new trailer so have been looking at Sinclair trailers as people have said that they like them. My dad is an engineer and can carry out renovations. I did have an old Rice trailer once but didn't like it.

Any advice or observations welcome :)

I've got a Sinclair, its great, bit scruffy looking, but solid and easy to pull. When I bought it I had it looked over by a trailer specialist and he said it was a really good value trailer.

I've had 2 Rice Trailers, they were ok but such hard work to tow and maintain, I think the last one was older than me, and I ain't young! I really like the Ifor I have now, but my friend has a Sinclair and that is also really nice

I like the Bateson Deauville, well built, rides really well & is light & airy for the horse. I had one for years but eventually needed a lorry so sold it. Oh, they keep their value as well, I lost very little on the resale. :)

Thank you for your replies.
I passed my test before the new laws come in. I really like the space in the Sinclairs and they are light to tow as far as I've been told which means I can borrow my dad's diesel Zafira to tow 1 pony.

I had an old (1960s) rice until 2000, it was a wonderful trailer but very very heavy. I replaced it with a third hand Sinclair and love it, excellent to tow, my ponies travel well in it, lots of space at the front, like the design of the front unload.

My neighbour has a Pegasus and she really rates that.

Various towing capacities in that list for the zafira depending on model

As you have a pre 1997 car licence then you just have to watch the actual weight being towed because the trailer MAM is bound to be above the towing capacity so exceeding that will not be an issue

I bought a Rice Beaufort for my 16.2 TB. They're nice and wide and also very wide at the front to make unloading off the front ramp a lot easier.
My TB point blank refuses to step foot in an iFor. He can't bring himself to unload off the front ramp. I think what he likes about the Rice is how the roof is cut back far above the front ramp.

Also because of the weight, very sturdy to tow.

Thank you for taking the time to give me all your views. In an ideal world I'd buy a brand new trailer or lorry but I'm just not in that position so to hear your opinions on secondhand ones really helps to inform my decision :)
