Just wondering - what are your favourite brands for:

Bridles....and why?

Boots (for the Ned not you)....and why?

(hoping to do some shopping for an upcoming birthday...well...have been dropping lots of hints so hopefully people have been listening!)

Wwell depends what kind of briddle you want ( caveson grackle ect) but treadstone make really nice briddles in really soft leather, the john whitaker ones are also nice and the barnsby briddles are soft as well and i like the jefferies briddles too.

For boots also depends what your looking for (brushing, tendon boots, fetlock boots, competition boots ect) but fro sj i like the john whitajer open fronted tendon boots, and for everyday brushing boots i love the ww boots and for xc and competiton boots i like the N.E.W.

Hope ive helped pm me if you want any more infomation.

bridles - well I like whatever make as long as it is good quality. Mine is a Treadstone and it is very smart and appears to be coping well after getting soaked on numerous occasions!

I've had it for nearly a year now and it still looks brand new and cleans up well!

boots - woofwear all the way. They are practical, hard wearing and you can get loads of different colours.

I've got a couple of Stubben a Tredstone & a GFS. I just shopped around & looked for quality leather work at the right price.

Boots the same really, I've had leather in the past but now I normally go for neoprene & velcro, much easier to keep clean & put on & take off. They can be made to fit easier than buckles & holes.

Either way I rarely pay full retail price for any tack, I always buy quality but look for sales, special offers or quality second hand. Owning a horse is expensive, If I can save a little then I do.

Bridles - Berney Brothers, it looks good and lasts for so many years.
Geologic (Decathlon) - They're cheap, good quality, and look good.

Boots - I love my HEXA ones for showjumping, they're easy to clean and Cass is comfortable in them. I like N.E.W for XC, superb quality boots, easy to clean, and Cass is comfy in them.

Bridles....and why?
Jeffries-really nice supple leather, hard wearing, plain(in a good way-not too fancy), cleans up nice, quite pricey but worth every penny IMO.

Boots (for the Ned not you)....and why?
Flatwork/hacking - Woof Wear brushing boots-cheap, hard wearing, they last forever, not fiddly to put on/take off, easy to clean!
SJ - Eskadron flexisoft tendon & fetlock boots-same reasons as the WW boots although not as cheap! i really like the 'Flexisoft' bit.
XC - I don't actually have any proper xc boots atm, just use WW boots, i really should get some, i like the look of Prolite and N.E.W.

Bridles - Jefferies, agree with helenandshadow that they are a lot more plain and 'workmanlike' than many, which imo is a good thing! Also, mine was one of the few bridles I looked which didn't have a flash noseband, just a plain cavasson!

Boots - don't use them apart fron for xc, when I have NEW brushing boots. If I was to use them more though, I would definatly by NEW over any other brand. They're amazingly light!

Bridles - I have a Barnsby bridle and love it - and boots wise I love my Prolite XC boots, and then jointly my woof white dressage boots, and equilibrium boots! (I have a little boot fetish!!!)

I have a Heritage bridle for posh, it's very nice! For everyday I have an Olympian one, they stand up well to abuse
I have some Prolites for jumping (don't use for anything else), they are also very nice but if I had the extra few pounds I would have liked those Dalmar aircooled ones.

Bridles.... love Stubben. Really like the leather and quality!! Also like Berney, kid on yard has a bernie bridle and its lovely! (I think their shop must be near you too!)

Boots.. dont use boots, so I wouldnt have a clue!!

OK boots - saw the dalmar ones but ran away very quickly when I saw the price....thinking of going for the NEW competition boots they are light, protect well etc. Also they don't get water logged...think I can get a full set for somewhere around €135 - about £90....

Bridles....I have hummed and hawed for ages on this one and really wanted to get either the Albion KB or the elevator BUT until I know that a comfort bridle is the right way to go I think it would be made to shell out that much cash (and end up skimping on the boots...) so I think I'm going to go with the Heritage....

Thanks for all the opinions folks....off now to do some shopping!

My bridle is a Barnsby and its just lursh! Its got a padded headpiece and lovely gold looking buckles (p.s, the headpiece does not mover, like the elevator)
Boots, its S.M.B (sports medicine boots) for Mounted games and then Sabre leather tendon boots with fetlock boots for jumping.
Have fun on your shopping spree!! Let us know what you get!

Ordered the bridle (heritage comfort - to try the principle & when I'm richer we can invest more!) and the boots (NEW as YO had a pair, liked them & fitted them so know exactly what I'm getting).

Will let you know how we get on with both! Thanks for the advice folks
