Whats your favourite horsey quote?
I'll start:
When your feeling blue all you have to do is look into your horses eyes and you can see the trust they have in you.

Where in this wide world
Can man find nobility without pride,
Friendship without envy,
Or beauty without vanity?
Here, where grace is served with muscle
...And strength by gentleness confined
...He serves without servility; he has fought without enmity.
There is nothing so powerful, nothing less violent.
There is nothing so quick, nothing more patient.

~Ronald Duncan, "The Horse," 1954

A canter is a cure for every evil - Benjamin Disraeli

Horses - if God made anything more beautiful, he kept it for himself. ~Author Unknown

My horse's feet are as swift as rolling thunder
He carries me away from all my fears
And when the world threatens to fall asunder
His mane is there to wipe away my tears.
~Bonnie Lewis

Basically just look through this website !

just them made me cry thinking about my horse.

i like the one where you something a gelding ask a gelding and discuss it with a mare. i think you might guess i have a mare.

also can never remeber the quote lol

The one above is what I've been thinking of having as a tattoo with my horses name above or below. I love it, just sums them up

Madeline, tell a gelding, ask a mare and discuss it with a stallion.

So true!

Personally I like;
Four white feet keep him not a day,
Three white feet send him far away,
Two white feet give him to a friend,
One white foot keep until the end.

And of course the classic " no foot, no horse"

i've got loads! a couple are:

"No heaven can heaven be, if my horse isn't there to welcome me."
Author Unknown

"No philosophers so thoroughly comprehend us as dogs and horses."
Herman Melville

"theres something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man"

A few of my favourites...

A perfect book on riding could be written only by a horse.

A horse is worth more than riches.

All horses deserve, at least once in life, to be loved by a little girl

Gypsy Gold does not chink and glitter, it gleams in the sun, and neighs in the dark

My all time favourite though is...

Tell me it can’t be done, and I will do it.
Tell me the goal is too high, and I will reach it.
Place an obstical in front of me. and I will soar over it.

Challenge me, Dare me, or even defy me.
But do NOT underestimate me.
For on the back of my horse ANYTHING is possible.

"When god created the horse, he said to the magnificent creature: I have made thee as no other. All the treasures of the earth lie between thy eyes. Thy shalt carry my friends upon thy back. Thy saddle shall be the seat of prayers to me. And thou shalt fly without wings, and conquer without sword; oh horse"

Four of my favourites.

The left side is the right side, and the right side is the wrong side.
-Maxim about where to mount and dismount.

Anyone who is concerned about his dignity would be well advised to keep away from horses.
-Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

When your horse follows you without being asked, when he rubs his head on yours, and when you look at him and feel a tingle down your spine...you know you are loved.
John Lyons

One can get in a car and see what man has made. One must get on a horse to see what God has made.

It is a quote (from a top show producer) but not a published one:

"It isn't the wagon the horse comes out of, but the horse that comes out of the wagon"

Although he no doubt has a very posh horse lorry now, at one time his horses used to go to shows in a cattle wagon - they still wiped the floor with the others though :)

I am owned by 5 pure Shires. Although I cannot give an attribution to the following quote,
it is often expressed to describe the breed:

He should have the face of an angel,
The heart of a lion,
And the backside of a farmer's daughter.

So it must have been after the birth of the simple light
In the first, spinning place, the spellbound horses walking warm
Out of the whinnying green stable
On to the fields of praise.

Dylan Thomas 'Fern Hill'.

Beautiful poem.

I was given a card the other day. It was a joke advert for 'crazy riders ranch'. There was a sign which read:
For quiet riders, we have quiet horses,
for lively riders, we have lively horses
and for people who don't want to ride, we have horses who don't want to be ridden!

LOVE IT !!:D

And Allah took a handful of southerly wind, blew His breath over it, and created the horse.... Thou shall fly without wings, and conquer without any sword. Oh, horse. Bedouin Legend

I like this one as I think it is mentioned in the Jinny books which I loved as a child.
