I went for Shetland as they have a lot of character, and can honestly say I've never come across a bad one!
Also I love Haflingers, Newfies and a sucker for a Fjord.

The Connemara. The ultimate pony allrounder. Mine hunts all day, jumping whatever the field jumps and will give leads to all the "proper horses", goes Cross Country and never stops or runs out. He's chunky enough to take up my leg without being too wide! Will do a decent dressage test and will jump a clear SJ round. Will never set the world alight but does enough for me. He's quirky enough to keep me on my toes but safe as houses. They just mature very slowly, especially mentally!

I've got a Welsh Dx TB to bring on this year. Not a pony, but I love the Welshie temperament that comes through. He's very eager and willing to learn and a really nice person.

Dartie's I think are ace for children, I've only known a few, but they seem to be very genuine first ponies. I'd have one over an evil Welsh A for a littley!

Welsh d's- even if they do have toddler like tendencies!!

Mine's a funny little creature- very loyal with an amazing sense of humour. He showjumps, xc, dressage, shows, hunts, hacks, beach rides etc all in his snaffle. He has the most amazing canter and jump- described like a helicopter by my jump instructor when he gets in a sticky spot. He likes to think he's an event pony stuck in a fat little body. He can be cheeky and put in an emergency stop to keep me awake and massive bucks and leaps to tell me that he's having fun. But despite his quirky little 'welsh' nature, I wouldn't change him (well not much :P ) as you can't ride a welsh and not have a good time!

Welsh Cobs, had my girl for 10 years and she's the love of my life. Will have a go at anything, plenty of fire and energy but I know she would never do anything stupid.

Maybe this should be the faourite British Native breed poll?
