I've been looking at a few but quite find anything that is 'exactly' what I'm after.

I'm currently considering:
Musto Paddock BR1,
Musto Canter BR1,
Mountain Horse Amber ladies jacket

The features I want are:
- Covers the back of the saddle when riding but ideally doesn't flap about when I'm not riding (all the ones above have studs on the flap to keep it in place)
- Reasonably fitted in shape
- Water proof
- Double zip at the front
- Removable and adjustable liner so it can be worn for more of the year / no liner cause I can always wear a gilet under it. (so far I don't think any of the ones above have this... they all seem to be winter jackets and I am struggling to justify the cost for something I will only wear for less than half the year.)

So... does anyone have a favourite they can recommend? And if anyone has the above jackets how have you found them?

I’ve been eyeing up the Musto long canter jacket for quite awhile. It’s got good reviews. You just reminded me to look for a deal again and one in Damson is on sale for £120 on the Musto website so I’ve ordered it. I really wanted Moroccan blue but I think that’s colour has been discontinued.

For lighter-weight use I’ve just bought Regatta - not riding jackets but cheaper, lightweight and waterproof. I don’t finfpd them as long lasting though, one the zipped hood kept coming undone then the zip broke and the other the outer zip broke so now I zip it together using the inner lining zip as I’ve taken the lining out.

I’ve previously had Pikeur riding coats and they’ve been hard-wearing, comfortable and waterproof.

I have two Musto jackets & both have been great.

I have a 3-in-1 combination & I think the Canter jacket (unlined & shorter length than my combination).

The canter is perfect for riding in - I had a 60 minute lesson last night in heavy rain & it didn't let in any water. I hack for hours in it too & always stay dry :)

My favourite water proof jacket is called 'inside' but I think its full name is 'inside with the fire on, ponies will survive not being ridden until its dry' ... It's priceless but worth looking into ;)

If I din't ride everytime it rained, I'd never ride ... :D Nice thought though!

I have the musto paddock BR1. I got it in the January sales so it's an earlier version in 'sulphur spring'. It's well fitted and true to size. Love the quality of it.

I usually have a longer jacket to cover the back of the saddle and this one doesn't. It doesn't have a removable zip layer so if you want to wear a thin fleece underneath, get a bigger size. (I wear noble outfitters cowls which are very warm and thin so no problem). Apart from that it meets your criteria. It is warm, waterproof and windproof. It doesn't get sweaty & unpleasant if I get too hot. I've had lots of compliments about mine.

Love mine and would happily buy another. If I was paying full price I'd take a closer long at the longer canter jacket instead.

Appreciate the responses :) keep them coming. I'll look into the additional suggestions.

I didn't realise that the Musto paddock jacket didn't reach over the saddle. I just assumed with it having the same flap that it would. Ideally I really need to go and try the paddock and canter jackets on. I'm quite short (5'3") so I do wonder if the canter jacket might swamp me length wise?
