My very hairy cob had to temporarily be put on straw (rather than shavings) and is now stomping like a mad man due to what I am assuming is mites. I know some have had success with frontline in treating feather mites, and was wondering if advocate would also work? I have advocate on hand and ready to use, and would prefer to try a spot on/spray and pig oil before calling the vet to give him a jab.

Any advice/suggestions gratefully received!

I didn't get a response but decided to try the advocate and it seems to have worked... One pipette on each heel, left overnight and washed off with Seleen and diluted Hibiscrub the next day.

I've become one of those nutters who talk to themselves on forums :(

I use the spray frontline as I find it very easy to apply and can ensure I have got it well into the hair. I then use P&S and have found that I have not needed to go back to frontline as long as P&S is regularly applied all year round.
