It's that time of year again
. My mare has always been prone to feather mites and up until last year I was always able to control them with Dectomax jabs. However I was unable to shift her last infestation with the jab and had to clip her feather off and use Frontline spray. This worked a treat and she's been mite-free until the last spell of mild weather. I sprayed with Frontline again and this seems to have cleared them up. Only problem is, I plan to show her this year as a traditional. Her feather is magnificent and her mane is thick and now about 3 1/2 ft long. It would break my heart to hog her! The spray doesn't work when her feather's full as it simply can't get to the skin, so I'm wondering about the spot-on, behind the knee. Anyone tried this? Was it effective? Here's the girl in full (if filthy) feather.
