Feather mites

Not easily. The mites live on the surface of the skin, deep in the feathers so it would need 2 very chummy horses to pass them on by direct contact. But feather mites do drop off the horse and live in the bedding. So if you moved your horse to a stable that had previously been occupied by a horse with feather mites (and the bedding wasn't removed, floor treated) then yes, it could be passed to another horse that way.
