Feather mites

My mare has feather mites and is cutting her legs itching. I have doused her in pig oil and sulphur but is there any other treatments? the vet is due on the 22nd but she is itching so badly I read you can use a frontline spray do you spray it on neat? are there any cures that mean i dont have to shave her feathers off?

Coopers Spot On for cattle works to get rid of mites. It's not lisenced for horses but if you can get hold of it it's great. Apply a measured spot to horse and fly/mite/tick free for 4-6 weeks
