Hi all sure this has been asked loads! Sure my boy has feather mites cob x lots feathers keeps stamping his back left not all the time though but think they are there, never had one with mite before signs please? & heard frontline spray is the best? Dog or cat can i use the pepets? Cannot clip him what's best advise thanks

Injection from the vet, 2wks apart I think to get the eggs that haven't hatched the first time. You might have to clip. On some horses it's not a case of curing them but of managing it, some horses need to remain clipped out on their legs forever. Try the injection first though.

I have successfully used Frontline for large dogs on my hairy cob. Used one pipette per leg. This year I am dusting with feather mite powder (diatomaceous earth) as a precaution and to see if that works. Have had jabs when really bad and seemed to do the trick.

Surreydeb I have the cat one in the cupboard 2 prepets left, what dog one did you use? Do I clean his legs thoroughly 1st do I have to do all 4, do i jst put it on & leave it? do you think it is defo mites how much are the injection? Sorry for all questions

Ok doing some reading up some have used
Large dog front line pripets x1 each leg
Front line spray
Others say the newer version front line don't work? Another version same ingredients is effipro
Do I clean his legs let dry off then apply? When do I put back on the pig oil & sulpher? I've read te re do in 10-14 days who of you has used which & what has worked if not this? Apparently I cannot see the mites it's 1 of his legs he's stomping some say prepets is easierto get onto the skin others say it's not advice p!ease need to shift these ******* & order what I need th anks

My new Clydesdale started to show signs of them, so I have thrown everything at them, pig oil and sulphur, hibi scrub, flea stuff and the injection from the vet. I am hoping to get the ******* before his feathers grow back. So far ( he has stopped rubbing his back legs and stamping) so good. Second injection next week. Bloody horrid injection I must say, took ages to go in, thankfully he is a good lad as he would be hard to hold if he objected

I'd be lucky to get something on him as he throws a right paddy! I no he won't behave for the injection I wouldn't be able to hold him but if it has to be done it will be! I've read a lot of people have had success from frontline how much is the injection please?

I had it done on a zone day, so no call out and one injection was £36
It is being repeated this week, which is 14 days
