I have previously read on here about using coopers spot on for treating feather mites
How often do you reapply? It seems to have helped but he’s still a little itchy, I put 10ml on the back of each leg, parting the feather and applying to skin

I use frontline - 1 pipette on each heel and it completely got rid of them.

I picked up a lea flet for a product called Botanica which is a shampoo and a cream made in Ireland from herbal products and the advertising claims that it is a cure for all and any skin condition in horses (and in humans and pets, cattle, sheep, etc.) - including feather mites.

It looks like a wonder product, but has anyone used it and what were the results.

Hugely overpriced, no active ingredients. It is a nice cream for skin soothing but absolutely inappropriate for treating mites.

They have an excellent marketing department.

That's what is normally used.

Frontline in spray bottle I think they are 500ml, clip legs, spray and rub well into the skin including pasterns and back of knees. Keep legs clipped and remember mites live in bedding so if you have a problem you will need a good clean up.

We tried frontline (didn’t work) and in the end used Lime Plus every now and then to keep them at bay. They can be really hard to get rid of.

This was about 10 years ago, so maybe frontline have adjusted their formula since then. This was the spray version.

Our vets have an ivermectin wash which you can make-up; I use this.

I don't think you can get the 500ml bottles anymore. When I asked about it in the CPL group on Fb I was shot down for using it as apparently the spray doesn't contain enough of the active ingredients to actually kill anything off. I have since moved over to using the

FIPROtec XL Dog flea pipits - one on each leg, repeat again after 14 days. Don't bed on straw either.​
