Feather Pillow recommendations

You really need to buy ethically sourced pillows (RDS approved), not sure if you are aware but live plucking is very much a common practice abroad and ducks are subject to the most stressful and cruel treatment to provide down and feathers. Although it doesn't kill them it must be agonising. The article contains a graphic video on live plucking but the article itself is interesting.

I will admit though that they absolutely reeked of ammonia when opened and I had to store them in Mums garage for a week before I could even bring them in the house but the smell gradually faded.

I'd recommend kapok pillows. As someone above has said, feather pillows are very unethical/cruel.

I prefer wool pillows.. they're better for you than down .. and more ethical.

The Woolroom have a sale on. Rather than buying new deluxe pillows at £52 each, I have bought some additional wool filler for their deluxe pillows. I'll add this to either an old empty pillowcase or I can use a pillow protector and put them straight in there. Two well filled wool pillows for about £60.

My recommendation is be sure you don't have a feather allergy. My asthma has been getting worse and worse for 2 years. I have just removed every feather filled item from my house, and stopped taking antihistamines and my breathing is heaps better!

Baavet wool pillows are great, I don't like a high pillow and they do three different weights so you can get them to your preferred thickness plus you can add or take out wool as needed.
