I am just beginning to show my cob and would really love his feathers to grow in a but more ! What is the best advice yous can give me ? Supplements , oils ect ?

No help Im afraid - Ive just acquired a cob with lovely bushy feathers that are driving me nuts, so will watch this with interest

Chop them off, they grow back thicker. Or else, bath him and back comb the feathers with a hair dryer day before a show, they appear thicker

If you want to prevent breakage, then pig oil them but be careful on sunny days.
Micronised linseed/biotin/seaweed is meant to be excellent for hair promotion/condition.
Check fields for thistles/anything prickly that will break or snap them off if walked through - same with riding, avoid bushy places.
Wash them and make sure all suds are washed out - rinse rinse rinse. Never brush dry, or at least avoid it as much as you can. Always detangle and brush through when wet during shampooing. When still wet but not dripping, dunk foot in tub of shavings and rub through feathers to wick away moisture. Again when dry on show day, for extra oomph, fluff them up with dry shavings and then gently brush and back comb. On a show day, I will use volumising products also if needed to keep the volume, so sin me.
For showing...time your trims as close to show day as possible for extra length on the day

Pig oil, pig oil, pig oil. You can get some fairly decent prices online.
This is the first winter/spring that I have been religious with the pig oil and its the first time he's kept all his feather down to the floor, no attack of the mites either. I swear by the stuff.

I do mine about every 10-14 days. Does make them look a bit minging as the oil makes dust and stuff stick, but its only the top layer and when you give them a wash they come up really nice.

Don't brush them! Wash, condition and then comb with conditioner in - then rinse.
Whebn the farrier comes secure the feather inside old football socks or pop socks - cut off the toe - slide up over the feather and secure to the top of the hoof with some packing tape. This prevents the farrier rasping off hair as he tidies the feet.
Since doing this my Clydesdale has kept a real good amount of feather
