Feckin pony and annoying OH!!!

Hacked with OH this morning - he likes fast - i dont! He only rides once a week so i often dont go! Attemped 2 canters this morning both times my little bug*er of a pony rodeod. 1st one was bad, but the second one was horendous, thought i was a gonna! So we had to walk the whole ride, and i felt awful at spoiling OH's hack!
OH says - let me ride the little sod - ill sort him out! Now, OH has been riding his share horse for 5 years -never had a lesson and just hoolies about. She is a very good horse never bucks rears or bolts. OH thinks he is Oli Townend!!!!!! LOL!!!
When i got back to the yard i was a tad upset - RI was there and made me canter him round and round the school very fast to assert my self over him!
I tell her what my OH says and we have a little giggle to ourselves, but i think he must have heard because when we are alone he has a bit of a go at me and says that he is a good rider and can sit the bucks.
Now my dilema is.... should i let him, and suffer the consequences if he comes off and injures himself or not?? He has NEVER sat on a buck before and the bucks are fairly substantial - he can do about 10 when he gets into the swing of it and really gives it some wellie! - he doest put his head down luckily but humps his back and his front feet come off the ground! I really am tempted to say - gone on, see if you can stay on him. But i love my hubby and dont want to see him hurt - but his 'I am better than you' attitude, makes me want to let him try.
what do you think

Do it do it...it'll shut him up..and hopefully should pony buck he comes off but doesnt actually hurt himself too bad of course...just enough to teach him a lesson....men aye....they have to be better at everything...

I would let him have a go (and wind pony up a bit before hand, plus lots of oats the week before)

I would let him but i would make sure the pony was having an off day first, or else it could back fire and the weight of your OH could make pony stop and think and not do it then you have OH even more smug telling everyone how your pony plays up for you but never for him.

Can you not keep ponies head up. He must be able to put his head down to raise the centre of his back??

If you really think your OH could be injured then don't let him my OH thought he could handle a horse he we went to look at. I told him to leave it as it was too much for him he said just pass my hat and don't make me look a fool!!!

Outcome OH was knocked out hospital rest of the day he couldn't remember he could even ride?? 6 years on he still has problems with his back and cannot ride under docs instructions and back people say do not ride again. So I have to ride his horse as well

So think hard before you decide to let him if he still insists then he's old enough but explain consequences first

I know it is always risky I would plant the seed first to cover yourself....i.e. say 'you know one of these days I am going to put someone stronger and heavier on him as he will most likely behave then if someone stronger tells him

but I would wait until next time you are out and pony is misbehaving before actually saying yes, cos if you just let him ride when he is not misbehaving he will think he is bettre than he is. When it may all come down to weight and strength anyway rather than ability

I dont actually know what he does - he doesnt put his head down but he can somehow buck and hump his back with all 4 feet off the ground - he can also buck whilst going up a steep hill with my big weight on his back!!!! god knows how - he is a very bendy athletic little fella!
 
annoyingly i bet pony wouldnt even try it with him! find that men are naturally just annoyingly better at sitting to these things as can clam their legs on.

let him try, might actually help. BUT bet OH will be even more full of himself if hes fine hehe
 
Er... am I the only one that is more worried as to why the pony bucks? Have you had him checked out by a vet? Fair enough if it is just 'feeling good' bucks but is it?

If you want to compete with your OH about who is the better rider then let him have a go - just be aware that it could end up with a nasty accident. A bit of common sense would go far here.
