Fecking landlords

It isn't an ideal situation I know, but unfortunately what the landlords say goes. Is the land written in your rental contract or is it just goodwill.
It sounds like you have a really nice setup and a lot of people would love to swap places with you. I would rather have a small paddock at home than put my horses at livery! If the extra land makes it that much easier I would just pay the |£10 and be done with it. The situation could become very awkward if you fall out with them, its just not worth it.

Thanks everyone, you've given me some things to think about, at least!

I dont know whether it would be possible to pay them to let us turn her out somewhere larger in the summer, but it may well be worth a try, even if it's just for two or three weeks for her to let herself down.

Conniegirl - I wish things were as black and white as you say! I know 0.2 acres is not ideal - and God knows, I'm so glad we only have one horse instead of two! But believe me when I say we would not be able to get anything better for the same price in this area. Let's face it, the only reason for moving would be to get extra grazing - I may have no school immediately on the premises, but I have never had a school so it is not something that bothers me! Everything else is perfect, and I see no reason to jeopardize everything just for half an acre more of turnout. As I have also said before, Ellie is happier in the yard than in the field anyway!

Hopefully, one day, the time will come when we do not have to be dependent on landlords!

trouble is...being the oh of a farmer...ground rents are going up...farmers are becoming more self suffiecent due to increasing cost...and horses unless you have exceptional facilities and understanding farmers are just becoming an expensive hobby....

however thats no excuse for the farmer...object with your feet and find somewhere else.....

Is it worth such aggro over £10? - less than £2.50 per per week?
Then everyone is happy. Or perhaps you can persuade them to give you a bit more for £10 per month?

Ask for a compromise,or just pay the extra 10 pounds a month, its not much really is it ? If it is not written down as an agreement you actually have legal rights over the grazing you have been getting !! and that actually means they cannot force you to move from that grazing by law, its abit like 'squatters rights ' ...By law they shud be paying you off, I would be inclined to tell them you have seen peeps at the Citizens advice Bureau, and that as the grazing you have been getting is not written in any agreement you are infact entitled to stay on that same grazing indefinately....
Depends if you don't mind 'rocking the boat'...but even if they put up the house rent up at next rent review you can take it to an appeal panel if they try to rise it up by alot to compensate....you will def win that case, trust me I am a landlord myself !
As a tenant you actually have more rights legally with things that do not have a written agreement and you will def have more than you think even with any written agreement...
Pm me if you want any more advice.
