Fed up, missing riding..apologies for the income

I know someone else mentioned it, but try driving. I recently did a Driving Back to Sport course. It really is addictive. People at driving clubs are always looking for volunteers and there are plenty of people who will be happy to give you a go and even let you compete in return for exercise help and backstepping.

I have always ridden and thought of the two as worlds apart, but I have learned so many new things and you get the horsey buzz without HAVING to ride. It does enagage you totally and there are as many elements as with competitive riding. I enjoy the British Horse Driving Trials Association type stuff; cones, dressage, obstacles, but you could do showing if that is your thing.

As an added bonus, some people's horses are ride and drive, so there may still be a window of opportunity to do both whenthe time comes ;)

Have a look at the BHDTA website, they have a forum, you could ask on there. :)

I agree volunteer at RDA, I'm sure you'd be able to convince your family to let you on one of those horses as they must be ridiculously safe and I am sure they would let you! If its good enough for people with severe disabilities I'm sure you will be fine!

I also feel your pain as fractured my elbow and wrecked a tendon which has just been operated on and hurts lots. Only facing 3 months though so horsey gets a holiday!

Patchy pony I will second the dope on a rope suggestion. I broke 3 vertebrae about 5 years ago. Didn't ride for about 2 years then first time back in the saddle hubby's horse went mental, spooked and I flew!! Landed on my head, broke my collar bone, 3 ribs and compacted my spine.
Now I have physio/chiropractor every 3 weeks and probably will do forever. I couldn't not ride though :) so hubby bought me my eeyore wannabe! I literally only started trotting a couple of weeks ago cos I was so terrified of hurting myself but he has been happy for me to just walk on him whilst I got my confidence back. Take your time and don't rush and good luck. I understand them protecting you but you only live once ;) xx good luck xx
