I have a TB mare who just over three week ago had a mild attack of colic, she recovered well. Last weekend I rode her out for the first time, just a gentle walk around the block, she sweated a little under her saddle pad, but nothing too bad, anyway on the sunday when I took her rugs off, the skin around the area that she had sweated on had gone crusty, almost like the skin had been burned, I put some zinc and castor cream on it and left it for the day with a towel over and then her rug on, this softened the damaged skin and that peel off. But what I did notice is that her coat is really poor, not like my other two who look health, this mare looks really dull in her coat, she is happy in every other way, is eating like she should and has weight on, but just looks dull coated, so folks any advice. She is fed soya oil, Winergy Equilibrium Low Energy and she has garlic and a few carrots. All comments and help much appreciated.........
