Fed up - Oldencraig and the Parrots!!

I got fed up with them years ago. I paid a lot of money for a clinic during the winter and the fuss they made about unlocking the gates and giving me some lights was unbelievable. They really shouldn't open their clinics to 'outsiders' if they don't want the bother of trailers turning up.

At the Leslie Law demo there were parrots in the stables as well as by the door, heavens knows how many they have got there.

I agree about the woman who organises it...she is lovely and really helpful. I was just a bit fed up with the way my test went and felt it wouldnt have been too much to ask to simply take the parrots out for the championship..

Maybe because it was early morning ( I was on at 8am) that the parrots were lively. Last time I went they were asleep and not a problem.
Ive always enjoyed it in the past there but just feel they have got a bit stingy bearing in mind the cost to enter. Feel there are better places value for money wise.

I completely agree with the rosettes I now where you mean and if I have a choice I always go to Bluegates Hubby works some sats so its dependent on him. The riding club I belong to always give to 6th even with less in the class (you all get a rossette -

I think the centre in question has a bit of a reputation now, which is a real shame. I may even meet up with you soon at Bluegate then!

Very surprised by the comments, as I was at Oldencraig on saturday. Whilst spectating at the outside arena, witnessed 3 competitions prize-givings with Rosettes upto 8th place, t-shirts, bouquets, summer sheets etc..so did not hear parrots, but every thing seemed extremely well run by "Jane" and
I was left with the impression of how generous and hospitable OEC had been.

You have got to be kidding, this was only our second outing and here we were at the champs. I am very proud to say that my son won this years jag saddle without a parrott in sight. We have had nothing but an excellent experiance at oldencraig.....thank you.....

I'm glad you have had a good experience Shanksies_pony but as an ex-regular of Oldencraig I tend to agree with the naysayers. I haven't been there for about 9 months, the last major whinge was that the outdoor schools were flooded and really deep.

I think they have now been put right but Ian's reputation does seem to have permeated throughout the South East! However, the unaff and aff organisers have always been fantastic but they don't own the place......

I suppose the fact that the owner has spent £5.5 million on doing up the place would make him think 'eff off' to anyone that complains??

People who have this much money don't get there by being nice to people!

the parrots were in the indoor school not the outdoor school. And trust me..there were definately there!!

Well done for winning the saddle. Im not complaining about their hospitality, I was complaining that they should have removed the parrots for the competition. Im sure if they had affected your sons test, you would have been equally annoyed. I gather he was in the outdoor arena then?
