Im getting really fed up, sitting at work in a stupid office when Id actually prefer to be out in the rain with my horses

I want to work with horses or something to do with them but there's just not much money in it, I used to be a groom but the money was awful and I didnt agree with the way they treated the horses, so that was that. Anyone else feel like this???

im not in an office still a student (thank goodness) but i totally agree with wanting to work with horses but there being no money in it afterwards! What about training to become an equine dentist or a physio (i know you have to be a human one first) or something else that you can train for around office hours, then you get the money from the job and dont have to give up work to train!
Or if you like the more natural horsemanship approach you could try to be one of the mini monty roberts prodgenys - one of those came to our yard yesterday £50 to travel 100 miles and £35 a lesson!! !

NO! I have just got back indoors after being out with the horses since 7.30am, the little sh*tland (he is a sec A but Sh*tland suits him better!) escaped into the yard and dragged a new sack of chicken corn all over the place and I expect he will get ill soon after gorging himself on it, one of the two 18hh Percherons 'walked' through a post and rail fence just because the grass is greener on the other side and just because he can, the other horses are standing up to their knees in the muddy bit looking at me (even though they could walk over to the drier bit of the field) so I will have to wash them all down later and the mudfever will soon start.... I am drenched through to my undies(!) covered in mud, I look like some sort of crazy mad woman!

Ah and the dogs have just walked mud all through the house that I cleaned this morning - joy!

Oh for a lovely warm, dry office with no horses within 10 miles - it must be bliss!

OMG YES!! and have done for many years. It came to a head on Wednesday where I was told to grow up! I am a high earner and there's no way I could survive off a small income - my partner would dump me for sure! I just have to wait until its it my time

If I had no committments, financial burdens and didn't like the high life so much I would go for it.

I do but I'm not confident enough and couldn't survive on the wages. I'm doing a home study HND in equine behaviour. God knows if I'll be able to get a job with it afterwards but for now I feel like I'm heading somewhere at least!

I pacify myself by thinking that if I didn't work where I work, I couldn't afford to pay for my horse. I'd rather have a boring job and have a horse to come back to than work with horses all day and have no time, energy or money to have my own.

Oh and yes I like the sound of the mini monty roberts... I wonder how you get into it though? I did the training with my youngsters

You need to complete all the Intelligent Horesmanship courses with Kelly Marks. Complete a horse psychology project, do a week of exams and submit several case studies before you can become one of her Recommended Associates.

Take a look at intelligent horsemanship to find details of the courses.

You must also be prepared to occasionaly help out on the courses, attend demos and continue learning/developing your skills.
