As everyone in the world now knows
I have a lovely little Border Terrier puppy.
She is living at my OHs parents house due to us having to take her before we move into our house (This weekend hopefully!). We have had her just under 2 weeks, but I have been away since monday morning (at uni doing exams) and OHs mum assured us it was fine she stayed there and would stick to routine bla bla bla. OH is also away with work.
I felt really good about leaving her there at first, the family have been waffling on about wanting to get a beagle pup for their teenage son so I thought of it as a tester for them.
OHs mum has been dodging my calls!! I finally got through to her and she let me know that the puppy is no longer sleeping, eating or using her crate at all because she 'doesnt like it and its not fair to lock her away'.
The puppy was still crying when put in her crate on a night when I left but she was taking less and less time to settle and we were really making progress.
Now I am back to square one (Probably further back than square one to be honest now the pup has worked out that crying = attention).
Whilst I was on the phone to OHs mum she said 'She is completely zonked out next to me on the sofa - she can even get up by herself now!' - Brilliant. They have encouraged her to get on the sofa.... something we spent a week telling her not to do.
I know these are not major things in the grand sceme of things but I just feel so ignored and frustrated that the pup will now be majorly confused when I get home.
I know this is my own fault for leaving her there. My mum did offer to take her for the 5 days but I didnt want to stress out the older dogs.
Im home tomorrow at about lunchtime... and that puppy IS sleeping in her crate... any tips??
If there is any delay in my house move I am taking the puppy to my parents house, even if I have to keep her away from the older dogs most of the time. My parents do not give in to whinging dogs!
I just re read my post and it is all just a load of ungratefull blabber... I am very thankfull that others have been able to look after Betsy while I am stuck down here (We are paying for the privelage btw) but I'm just upset that OHs family have gone against basically every rule that we have set.
The best bit is OHs mum now thinks its a good idea to get a beagle...good god.
