Well I dont know if you can remember but I had a fall about 8 weeks ago resulting in a hairline fracture to my right foot. Despite following all the doctors advice I still have constant pain in my foot and was sent to the hospital again for another xray.

Just found out that I now have arthritis in my foot. My doctor said basically there is nothing they can do for me but give me pain killers and it will be like this now forever.

So I am feeling just a little bit fed up.

Oh that is not nice.

Try and get hold of some celery seed tea - its an anti inflamatory and can really help with arthritis pain.

have a big old glass of vino and open a box of chocs - absolutely no practical use at all but always make me feel better.

oh dear

i'm currently battling with the NHS to get my collarbone plated as it refuses to heal (the ends are about an inch apart on x-ray) and i finally seem to be winning.

hopefully someone on here can offer you some advice or point you in the right direction at least for pain relief?

ow! I know how painful it can be!

1) get into see a podiatrist and get some orthotics made up to support your foot properly
2) get yourself onto a decent joint supplement
3) try st John's wort compresses to help with the inflammation - but check first that it doesn't contradict any other medication (esp contraception/HRT! ) that you're taking!
4) get some good books and enjoy a little rest!

ETA - I broke my heel (don't ask!) and now have plantar fascitis (torn plantar fascia (or the muscle/tendon/tissue under your foot) and this caused a stress fracture of a meta tarsal. the only thing that has helped was the orthotics. Pain killers didn't touch it and made me feel totally spaced out!

I have just bought some Glucosamine and Chondroitin which I hear is supposed to help and I have found some foot exercises that I can do.

It's worth doing a bit of research on google about Glucosamine etc, to check the amount you need to take to maximise benefits..... I took all sorts of joint supplements after I had chemo as it left me with painful hip and knee joints, as well as foot pain, and I remember a lot of the supps you can buy are nowhere near the max you need to take. Also check frequency you can take it, as it works best taking lower doses through the day.
Unfortunately it didn't work on my memory!
