Need some advice on what to add to jakes feed to give him a bit more oomph when being ridden. He'll go nicely at the moment but feels sluggish and like he needs more power!

Hes barefoot so need something that won't upset his feet and he's currently fed on half a scoop of dengue no molasses, half a small scoop speedibeet, 50ml scoop linseed, half scoop pro balance and a small scoop of yea sacc, same for both feeds but without pro balance and yea sacc in breakfast

should I up the speedibeet? Thing is I don't want him to put on weight cos he's not exactly skinny as it is lol

After years and years of looking for the same, I have come to the conclusion that the only thing that will give them more oomph is to a, get them fitter and b, not let them get overweight and c, they are naturally laid back and have no oomph button :D

Other than that I would leave out the chaff and feed more unmolassed beet

Ive had very good results with adding some micronised peas, brought as a straight. It doesnt mess with vit/min levels that may already be being given as supplement or balancer. Cant comment on suitability for a barefoot horse though im afraid

I have to agree with this! My ID can be fed actual rocket fuel and it won't make a difference so I've changed the way I school him to try pep him up now :)
