Hi all, I'm very new to horse ownership and want to research on the best diet I should be feeding my pintaloosa x cob, who I believe has been barefoot her whole life (9 years old). She's on full livery, so gets fed as part of that, but I want to make sure she's having what she should be to keep her and her hooves in the best condition. Could anyone point me in the direction of somewhere that has the info I need to be reading, please? Thanks!

EDITED to say: Sorry, I should have said, I have read back through many feeding posts on the forum, but because I don't know the products (being so new to ownership and all), I have no idea what or how to feed these things! I could really do with a primer, Feeding Your Barefoot Cob 101, sort of website!! :)

Not a webpage, but I'd recommend the book "The truth about feeding your horse" by Clare McLeod, an independent equine nutritionist. Gives a good overview on horse nutrition, and applies to barefoot horses too. The author also has some useful articles on her webpage, and on facebook.
If your horse has been barefoot all her life without problems, chances are she's an "easy candidate" and won't be super sensitive to what she's fed exactly.

Pheonix forum is where are us barefoot preachers gather! Lots of feeding advice on there.

It's ded easy though. Low starch and sugar. No molassed feed. Many won't feed alfalfa, including me. No cheap by products. Which limits it to very few feeds. Aspero, Thunderbrooks and simple systems mainly. I do something wet (fast fibre, speedibeet or pink mash). A chaff. Plus micronised linseed or coolstance copra for condition and coat. Then a hoof supplement (pro earth, equimins or forage plus).
