We have a new pony, had her for 6 weeks. Currently she's on the feed she came with, but very minimal amounts due to good grass, hay regularly..she's ideal weight at the moment. I've no idea what to feed her as we go into autumn/winter and don't want her going nuts on feed! She's very calm and not fizzy at the moment. She's on Dengie Healthy tummy but only because that's what they gave them on sales livery, no history or symptoms of ulcers (as the feed is I think good for horses with ulcers). She's in work 5 or 6 times a week at the moment, she'll probably come down to 4 times a week over winter. She's having about half a scoop a day so not much at all.

Where do I start with moving her to something suitable? Or do I keep her on the Dengie Healthy tummy? Any advice welcome!

My go to feed is always grass nuts. You can feed them in large quantities if needed. Always soak them though. I also usually use grass tastic. Both these feeds are non heating. I currently feed grass nuts with alfa a oil as my 2 dropped off in the spring but I think I will go back to grass tastic along with the nuts for winter.

Why change the feed? If she's happy on it and you're happy feeding it I'd leave well alone. Waiting until autumn/winter will also give you an idea as to how she manages with less grass and maybe a change in exercise routines with the days getting shorter. Until then, I'd just carry on as you are and enjoy your new pony.
