Hi All, looking for some info on feeding my 4 year old TBx trotter. She has lost some condition over the winter and before I send her off to pony school for schooling I want to build her up. I'm currently feeding 3 times a day, baileys num 4, sugarbeet, ready mash and chaff plus plenty of veg, vits and veg oil.

However, I'm going back to work this week and will only be able to feed once a day. Can anyone suggest anything else, she is field kept and has hay (round bale shared between others) but grazing is not great at the mo, due to lack of rain etc. Thanks...

Lots of hay, kept warm and dry if horrid weather so not to lose condition. There are many conditioning feeds like calm and condition, cubes and mixes. But wouldnt feed to much cereals. The most important feed is fibre. It does take time to put condition on. Might be a good idea to keep a record of weight with a tape to see if heading in the right direction. Oil is a good additive for weight gain, also dengie do alpha a oil which has a good calorie intake.
